Great Eagle Golf Club
Played On 12/04/2016Getting the attention it deserves
We started playing this course a couple of years ago and were pleasantly surprised by the layout. Then it needed some attention to everything, mainly the overseeding. With some attention paid, this course has become one of the most fun to play on the NW side of the valley. Great variety of holes and some challenge. The staff is very friendly and we will play here often because of the great value and the interesting layout.
Trail Ridge Golf Course at Sun City West
Played On 11/29/2016great trak
This remains one of our favorite venues in the NW valley. Holes are interesting and there is some challenge to the layout with water in play on several holes. Pace of play was very good and we finished our round in a little over 4 hours. The course was in great shape; greens were fast and a bit tricky to read. We'll play it again.
Riverview Golf Course
Played On 04/07/2016Unplayable greens.
We played this course several years ago and wanted to try it after a redo. While the layout is fine and the fairways generous in landing zones, it was a disappointing round when we got to the greens. None of our foursome could get a ball to hold and we had many that landed in regulation. I don't know if having good grass will help because the slope and difficulty level doesn't match the rest of the course. I wonder who the makeover architect was thinking would be the average patron of this course. With so many others to play, this one will not make our replay list.
Stonecreek Golf Club
Played On 01/24/2016course in good shape
We found the course to be in good shape. 3 of 4 ball washers we wanted to use were broken and dry. There were walkers, some with dogs who left evidence on two of the tee boxes, and bicycle riders on the cart paths which is disconcerting when hitting a ball. We really like this course but don't understand all the pedestrians on the course.
Eagle's Nest Country Club at Pebble Creek Resort
Played On 10/04/2015A great day of golf.
The course was in very good condition and scenic. Pace of play was excellent and the staff was pleasant. Thanks to the grounds keeper for having reasonable rough height. We will definitely play here again.
Coldwater Golf Club
Played On 07/27/2015good variety
Always enjoy playing this course. Good variety on the holes. However, we played in hot weather and there was no ice chest on the cart, no water containers on the course, no cart lady so take your own if you play. The fairways showed signs of heat distress; a number of bare spots. Greens had recently been aerated so were slow. We'll come back when the course is in better condition.
Great shape and good test.
The course was in the best shape I've ever seen it. The management has done a lot of clean up of brush and the beauty of the landscape is evident. The fairways were still green even though they didn't overseed them this year. The greens were fair and ran true. Even the restrooms were immaculate. This is the best short track in the Valley. Kudos to Palm Valley.
The Duke at Rancho El Dorado
Played On 10/27/2014Disappointed.
Info on GOLFNOW site didn't show CPO and we were angry as we traveled the 50 miles to get there. The course is poorly served by its management: a ball washer every 6 six holes! No GPS or info on holes and since there were several blind shots, it would have been nice to have a card with the course layout. Few signs to indicate paths. Except for the cart girl and bag boy, the staff were unfriendly and rude. The course itself plays easily enough, but there is no reason to travel so far if you're on cart path only there. Won't go again.
Arizona Grand Resort
Played On 10/05/2014Shabby shape.
We played here before recent changes and liked it much better before. Seems tricked up and that they tried to get too much out of too little real estate. Course was in shabby shape, sand traps looked like dried up river beds, blind holes seem a danger to players with no GPS indicating where carts ahead are. Course was overbooked and we waited on every hole.
Cannot recommend.
Prescott Golf Club
Played On 09/29/2014Ridiculous rough and narrow fairways
We have played here a number of times in the past and enjoyed our round. This time, the fairways were mowed very narrow and the rough was horrible. We spent so much time looking for balls, it ruined the day for us. What's the point of long rough and narrow fairways on a course with plenty of room and non-pro players? Can no longer recommend it.
Los Caballeros Golf Club
Played On 09/21/2014Lovely scenery, very enjoyable experience
While they were getting ready for overseed, we thoroughly enjoyed our round. The course is somewhat challenging, but fair both from the men's and ladies' tees. The staff was very friendly. We were there on a Sunday afternoon and the pace of play was reasonable with no pressure. We look forward to coming back.
Falcon Dunes Golf Course
Played On 09/07/2014Grasses too long.
We wanted to love this course having played it several years ago. Maybe because of the late summer, the fairways were mown narrow--fairway grass was too long. While fairways looked wide, the actual mown areas were narrow leaving many balls in the thick rough. Greens were also a little shaggy and slower than we like. We might try it later in the season after over seeding and see if the grounds are in better form.
Quarry Pines Golf Club
Played On 06/08/2014Great good fun.
This course is a hoot to play. Loved the variety of holes and the challenging Par 3s. What a great use of this old stone quarry -- very picturesque. Although they had aerated recently, we still thought the course very playable and will come back when greens are perfect. Definitely a keeper!
Wigwam Resort - Gold Course
Played On 8/11/2013It's back!
Haven't played Wigwam in several years and this was our first time playing the Gold Course. It was in great shape. The greens rolled true; fairways were green and well mowed; tee boxes were flat; there was sand in the bunkers. This may be our new favorite "parkland" style course in the valley. Kudos to the course maintenance staff.
Aguila Golf Course
Played On 7/28/2013Impressed and very pleased.
We had not played this course recently and were very impressed with the changes made to it and the condition it was in for our end of July round. We have always felt this course is the crown jewel of the City of Phoenix muni courses and this round really reinforced that view. The course was in excellent condition (kudos to the maintenance staff), we loved the zippy electric carts, the staff was friendly and helpful, and the course offered challenge but was playable for all in our group. The scenery here is wonderful and we will be back soon.
Your feedback is important to us. Thank you for sharing your 5-star experience. We look forward to seeing you again at the course soon! Thanks for choosing Aguila Golf Course.
Thanks for playing Stonecreek! We will be replacing all of our broken ball washers in the near future as part of amenities upgrade plan. Also, we continue to work on educating pedestrians on what is a walking trail and what is a cart path. Hope to see you on the links soon!
