Morgan Creek Golf and Country Club
Played On 06/10/2018Very nice club - professionally managed
This club is well run. From the pro shop to the cart service to the course conditions. Very nice time.
DarkHorse Golf Club
Played On 06/02/2018Great place but needs on course marshal for pace
Overall I’m a big fan of DarkHorse. It’s a tremendously good lay out very well thought out very nice people and beautiful views. However the fact that you can get stuck in a five hour round and still never see a Marshal come by to have people speed up is just inexcusable. This is what is killing the game of golf so many five hour rounds without the courses in forcing pace of play rules.
Teal Bend Golf Club
Played On 05/20/2018REALLY need a marshal
I'm sorry but there is nothing about a golf course that makes it great when a normal 9 holes takes more than 2 hours and 40 minutes. Very nice staff, great people at snack bar / bar, good layout and pretty good conditions. But we had to give up on #15 because we were entering hour 5 with 4 holes left. Two groups ahead of us was a 5 some and the other group was 4 people with an 8 year old driving a cart. Seriously!? Golf courses HAVE to realize that slow play is a PRIME reason why we can't get 20 or 30 year old people to go play golf. Get a polite but firm marshal that isn't afraid to enforce speed of play. You can put all the signs you want on the carts and on the course but it simply does no good without enforcement.
Castle Oaks Golf Club
Played On 04/01/2018Was a favorite but NOT this time.
I've been a big fan of this course for years. Big trees, interesting layouts and usually very nice greens. Nice people and nice restaurant. However, the course maintenance was poor enough today that I feel compelled to call them out on it. The weather has been perfect for many days so "it's been wet" is not an excuse. The rough was very overgrown and anything near a fairway was "second cut" and very long - made for finding normal shots very difficult. Greens ROCK HARD- I mean hit and hear the first and second bounce hard. Play agonizingly slow - THAT is why every course - especially on a weekend needs a marshal with a polite backbone. We quit after 13 holes because it just wasn't worth it any more. Castle Oaks - get marshals out there. Cut the rough and take care of the greens before the reputation is done serious harm. (sand was bad too but that's understandable after lon rainy season).
Wildhawk Golf Club
Played On 02/17/2018Surprisingly Good Course!
My only issue is that you’ll get definite “non golfers” here. Be ready for gym shorts and tennia shoe players. That’s fine if pace of play is OK. - but is was THE slowest round of my life. Started at 1:20 and already had 3 groups waiting on numbers 2 tee. Need a marshal with a tactful but firm hand. Play faster or pick up to make up the time. At 6pm we stopped for darkness on number 15.
But very nice conditions for sure.
Empire Ranch Golf Club

Sand in great shape and fairways drained amazingly. Lots of roll In January-what!!
Timber Creek Golf Course - Sierra Pines
Played On 12/03/2017Very nice time - don't expect hugs at the pro shop
Overall we really enjoyed the day. The course is in very nice shape - exceptionally good greens. Traps in good shape and fairways nice even though it had just rained. The only issue was the friendliness of the only employee in the shop. Very short with us even though there was no issue. The other couple we joined said the same thing - nice place just not nice guy was their comment. Like your job much or not when you deal with the public you should have a smile on your face and represent the business well.
Whitney Oaks Golf Club
Played On 04/23/2017Great day, fine test of golf
Really enjoyed my first round here. Was pleasantly surprised how complex the course is very typical subdivision golf. Well thought out design and tough yet fair from blue tees at slope 134.
Duck Creek Golf Course
Played On 10/29/2016A nice experience
The course is very playable. I would recommend it most to somebody you wants a fairly low stress round. Pretty flat, no blind shots, greens in good shape but not complicated, tiered or undulating. Very good players will be fairly bored so if you are looking for a good test this probably isn't worth your time. The fees and service are very good for the money and a BIG bonus was that is was very wide open for a beautiful weekend day. Playing fast as a twosome was very nice. Drink cart with friendly staff was a plus.
Thanks for being a long time player.
The week before we were closed due to flooding and 4" of rain - check out our facebook/castleoaksgolfclub page for a video of our rained out Public Links Qualifier.
This week it was high 70 degree weather and the rough exploded.
It's not normally this long as we cut it to 1 1/2".
The hot weather also firmed up the greens.
