Tecolote Canyon Golf Course
Played On 02/10/2024It’s a Par 3 course (kinda)
I should’ve done more homework on the course but I had just rolled into town and was desperate to play somewhere not terribly expensive. To my surprise, I found out the course is mostly par 3s. BTW, San Diego likes to gouge visitors and tourists with “non-resident” green fees. Not sure what the logic is but we don’t do that in the south. Most holes are par 3s except for 3 or 4 of them…and even those are short 4s. I also noticed most people didn’t repair their divots or ever heard of a ball mark repair tool. I spent a lot of time repairing the greens. If you want to just work on your short game then it’ll get the job done.
El Conquistador Golf & Tennis - Conquistador Course
Played On 02/03/2024Great course!
I have always wanted to play in Arizona so I stopped in Tucson on my way out west to La La Land. As soon as I arrived, I was greeted by the head greenskeeper. He brought a cart to me and put my clubs in the back. He even gave me great advice and told me to move my car as it was right next to the #1 fairway. I then went to check in and was greeted by another friendly young lady working the pro shop. Since the day was cool, gloomy and dreary, she said I could start play whenever I was ready and even allowed me to play on the more scenic course, La Canada. She also advised me of the free range balls included in the green fee. The course was magnificently kept and the mountainous backdrop was spectacular. Wildlife was abundant-from rabbits to road runners to soaring hawks. The greens were excellent and since I was playing alone, the course of play was quick. Even if I’d been paired up with another group, it would have been okay. All the cart paths were in great shape with easy directions to find the next hole. All in all I would highly recommend the course to anyone.

I can't say much more that hasn't been said about the course from other players' reviews as well as from the Golf Advisor staff. What I will say is I played this links styled course after 4 days of constant rain in the area. Yes it was a cart path only day, but I wanted to walk anyways. Austin in the pro shop discouraged me so I took the cart. In hindsight, if your in ok to descent shape then it's a "walkable" course. It does have some elevation, but nothing extremely drastic. The course drained well with a few leftover tee boxes and fairways that were still in the process. Great layout. Greens were almost in perfect shape. Pro shop has Taylor Made Burner rentals for $35 and are in good shape. I took an Uber from downtown Indy for $30, but be weary as getting back presented a problem as there were no Ubers in the area to get me back. Needless to say, I had to call in several favors.
We appreciate you taking the time to leave us a review. We would love to know how we can earn those last two stars next time! Thanks for playing Cotton Fields Golf Club, The.
