Played Palms & Lakes

Nice resort styles course. Very playable and good condition. Water on many holes on both nines. Fairways and greens were in great shape but the bunkers (as with most courses) were lacking enough sand to be fair. Very affordable summer rates. Will return again.

Good Course

Kenny Mac is a good value almost all the time. Good layout but not great. Water on many holes and some longish par 3's. It's a city course and is maintained as such. The course was right in the middle of changing management companies, so it may be better soon.

Best bang for your buck.

Forget the bad reviews, the greens and fairways were in great shape when I played (they are punching the greens in late July). Both as good as you could want. Rough is rough. Little to no grass in the rough. Don't hit in the rough and it won't be a problem.

Classic Desert Course

This a classic desert style course. It's forgiving but will bite you if you get lazy and lose focus. It was in very good shape when I played. Summer rates made it affordable ($43-normally over $100). Play it if you get a great price from Golf Now or other source.

Nice course at a fair price.

Not a demanding course IF you stay in the fairway. Miss the fairway and it will present some difficulties. Fast greens that ALL slope back to front.

Price is Right

This course was purchased by new owners in August of 2015. They are working to bring it all the way back to life. They are trying very hard and it shows.

Location
This course is located less than 20 mile West of the PHX area. It's easy to reach from the 10 fwy in various directions.

The Range (for golf and cows):
This is a SMALL and UNmanicured patch of grass and dirt to hit balls to warm up. Nothing more and nothing less. Don't expect much here and you won't be disappointed.

Greens and Fairways
The greens are generally in great shape. A few barren spots on 2 greens, but otherwise neat and challenging. The fairways are wide and inviting and lined by houses and farmlands throughout. Most fairways are smooth and flat. Some are bumpy but will not be a problem.

Rough
It is exactly what the name implies: rough. This is where some might find this course offensive. The rough was weedy and barren dirt in most areas. If you hit it off the fairway you are likely not going to be happy. You will almost always have a second shot on this course, but it could be in thick weed (the main rough) or off dirt.

Pace of Play
Great (I played at 6:30 am): 3 hrs. They say usually around 4 hrs. to play the course.

The Course
This is a unique layout in as much as it has 6 par 3's; 6 par 4's and 6 par 5's. Water comes into play on 1 hole (#9). The are enough well placed bunkers to make you think (though many fairway bunkers were GUR).

Price
I paid $40 (that included cart). This course is easily worth $20-$40. At this time. I would not pay more. I can see the finished product going for $40-$75 once the renovations are complete.

Give this course a try. I think you'll enjoy the experience.
