Course needs some help

Have played this course many times over the years since it has been open. It is in the worst condition we have ever played on it. Rough and fairways need some attention. Greens were not over seeded but we have heard why in the past. Then the pace of play? We were looking at literally a 6 hour round as the front 9 took almost 3 hours to finish on one of the easiest courses in town. Almost a hundred spot to play a course that isn’t worth a quarter of that.

Slow Play is ridiculous

5 hour rounds on any course is unacceptable. To not have a marshal to monitor the groups creating the problem is even worse. 40 minutes to play holes 1 & 2
Sun City CC is better than this. Fix it

Fun Course but needs some care

Great Staff but they are hosting at a course that is in pretty bad shape from what we have seen in the past. It was pretty clear they did not over-seed much of the course. Tee boxes bad. fairways you were lucky to have grass and better than a very tight lie. Greens were Ok. Slow but rolled reasonable. Casa Grande growing in Population. Clean up the course!

Good course with poor pace of play.

Good course with fair greens that we know are near over-seed time. Layout is fun to play. Only issue is pace of play. Called clubhouse and received very little help on the issue. They came out and acknowledged only to never return to check and see how things were going. When it takes 1 hour and 12 minutes to play holes, 10, 11, and 12, that is unacceptable. Took 2 hours and 40 minutes to play the back 9. Group in front of us hitting 2 to 3 balls each off tee and carelessly looking for them while every group piled on each other. As many employees walking around at this place, you would think they would have a better management situation. Won't be returning any time soon.

We appreciate your feedback regarding pace of play on the Champions Course the other day. Without your comments we would not be able to address the issues we face as a service oriented business. I am sorry we were not able to meet your expectations. No one wants a slow round. In the event you do decide to play the Champions course in the future, we would greatly appreciate any new feedback regarding pace.

Thank you,
TPC Scottsdale Management

Where is your course Marshall?

The worst round of golf I have ever witnessed and experienced. You have cart girls selling out in the middle of a fairway holding up play. Group in front literally 3 holes behind and nobody out on course to address the problem. Just over 5 hour round is not satisfactory. Levis? People wearing Levi pants? Really? For a course newly remodeled and opened, you would expect a manager to be walking around asking questions and dealing with PR. As for the course? Course is fantastic and well done. Greens are going to be great. Good for the West side of town.

A course that will put you to sleep

Very boring golf on the Scottsdale side of town. A course with not much character. Not worth the drive. Conditions were average, but playable. Disappointed in this one.

Simply one of the Best

This is one of the more beautiful courses in the valley. The views and scenery are second to none. Course was in immaculate condition and greens were perfect. Layout is a lot of fun. If your a tourist and wish to play a quality course with beauty from the entrance to the course, this is the facility to come to. 5 stars without question.

The Absolute #1 course in Arizona

We have played this course many times since it has been opened up to the public. Quintero, arguably is the #1 course in Arizona that is publicly playable. WeKoPa is no question incredible and #1 & #3 in the State. If Quintero was in Scottsdale were it was easy access, it would be one of the busiest tracks in the area. The greens are simply no question the best in the Valley. I have played 170+ courses in the State and nothing compares to Quintero. Nothing! Incredible layout with great elevations and fair size fairways. It is definitely a must play in the area. My prediction is Quintero will take the #1 spot in the state and rightly so. Incredible course!!!

A 5 Star Golf Course

This course was in great shape for the summer. Greens were very true and well maintained with nice consistent speed from hole to hole. What more can be said other than this is a definite must play track with all of its scenery. We had a couple Deer (Bucks) run near us at the #12 tee box that was a nice touch to the day. We will be back with no question.

Fun Course with some of the worst greens in the valley

If you don't mind playing golf tee to green you will enjoy your golf. The greens at this place are the worst in the valley. Grainy and rough, one reasonably fast, while one is horribly slow. Won't be going back any time soon.

Overpriced Troon Managed Course

Course was in good shape and usually is. Wide open fairways to well protected greens. Greens were very difficult to read and have been in the past as well. Good challenge. The problem with this place is it is over-priced. Locals that take care of these courses with play during the summer at 115 degrees when nobody wants to play in the heat get hit with the same green fees as the tourists. We paid $87 with tax and then they wanted to hit us with another $50+ tax for a replay. We did not appreciate the pure greed. This wasn't including all the cart beverage purchases. We estimated we spent $750 as a 4some including our lunch between rounds. This place isn't worth those kind of rates folks. It is flat golf that nearly every hole is the same and quite boring. There are many others in the Scottsdale area that are worth the play with these types of rates. We will head to We-Ko-Pa next time and do the staycation at the Raddison near Ft. McDowell. They take care of their AZ locals.

Aerated greens but no alert!

Course was great, but to not be alerted of aerated greens before booking gives them 2 stars on this one. We were a little surprised of the aeration in the middle of April when spring play is still going. Great course that is challenging at 6600 yards. Definitely one of the better layouts and courses on the West side of town. We will be back...after the aeration is completed. Next time at least let your golfers know prior to payment. You will earn much more respect.

Enjoyable course to play....

This has always been one of my favorite courses to play despite the conditions. Have played here where it has been in much better shape after overseed. Have played this course since 2001 and right now it is in the worst shape ever and needs much TLC to get our group back. There is a lot of areas where there was once grass, that is now dirt. Greens were OK. It is too bad they are letting it go to the levels it is at. Paid $40(with tax) and it is about a $25 course at best right now. We will steer clear for a while and go to other nearby courses and check back at a later date. Not a good place to play right now.

Course in need of an owner who cares

Played this course growing up. Was a place that was one of the go-to courses in town. Hosted even NFL player celebrity events. Now? A complete embarrassment to the area. Hey owner...how about at least having some pride in ownership around the clubhouse. The range? Thank god it is hidden by the building. What a dump. The mats you hit off are torn and need replacement. The practice putting greens? Just rip them out! One is filled with a weed taking over and the other had a fungus issue. Oh, and no flags in any of the holes. Lazy staff, no flags at course, or? Grass so bad you could hardly see the holes that haven't been moved in weeks, if not months. At least have some pride in ownership and take care of the property around the clubhouse. The course was playable. Just that...playable. Greens? Aweful and in need of attention. Pace of play? How about if you allow 5-somes, you let them know to at least have some class and allow groups to go by if they are holding the course up. Idiots were 3 holes behind and didn't give a darn. Sorry Cottonwood, you deserve this review. Your hurting for play? Ya think? Your appearance gets an F. No reason to waste money here unless you can drop another $20 to play elsewhere. Ownership here appears to not care. Good luck getting players.

Fun inexpensive course in San Diego area

Course was a little wet from rain but overall in playable condition. If your looking to get out and just play some golf, this is a fun place to play. Just stay out of the kikuyugrass. Overall your not going to get great lies in any area. Greens are smooth if early tee time and reasonable speeds. Cheap fun golf if budget is your preference.

Earn your score!

Fun course as always. Greens a bit firm but overall in good shape.
Tough to read with many undulations. You will have to play well to score well with the firmness of the greens. They are not real receptive to shots into and around the greens. Make for an interesting round. Enjoyed the day and for the price you can't beat it. Be thankful Sun City is allowing public play. Reasonable pricing and very nice conditions.

Course much improved

Played here Oct 24,25 & 27 2012. Looks like we have a few reviews here that forgot about over-seed season patience. With other local courses closed for over-seed this course is getting alot of traffic from those closed courses. To be totally expected this time of year in Arizona. Course is in good shape and greens are much improved and rolling very nice. I have been in contact with new course superintendent and he is determined to make this a great place for everyone to play and enjoy with fast greens, nice collars around the greens, fresh new sand in bunkers, and an overall clean place to play golf. Great staff that is very people oriented. Green fees are very affordable at $40. Want them less? Don't expect great conditions guys. Budgets? We noticed great favorable change in conditions and we will be back. Enjoyable, yet reasonably challenging course. Nice to see Ladies Cactus Tour playing there when we played. We will be back.

Always a good time.

Relaxing course that has challenging traditional layout. A few of the greens can baffle your mind if you put the ball in wrong location to pin. Very good course for those worried about hitting into houses. Mistakes are not very penal off the tees. Wide open. For those wanting more challenge. Play the tips and you will have a good challenge.

Will be at least another 9 years

Had not played this course in 9 years and now I remembered why. A dump? Literally! A muni course it is. Starts with the staff. Very unorganized, yelling over the microphone for carts to be moved when they could have easily walked 20' out the door and expressed their needs. THEN, you have people in T-shirts and Levis and absolutely no concern of the respect of the game and the dress code. Just added to the Dump! Start requiring Collar Shirts and the appropriate shorts or pants guys. Muni? Should not matter! Course is a good layout that has so much potential. Course was pre-overseed condition and very slow play as years before. Will be at least another 9 years before I go back.
