Exceeded my lofty expectations

This being a Disney operation, expected a great course with friendly staff and great amenities, but coming from Massachusetts we were surprised just how nice the experience was for the money we spent. Greens fees were only 75 bucks, which is not much more than we are used to paying for a round at a mediocre public course back home. We rented clubs, which were current season, top of the line Taylormades with little wear on them. The course was in very good shape with few signs that a hurricane had just been through the area. The staff was exceptionally friendly and helpful. The beverage cart was well stocked and came by often enough to keep us "well hydrated". All in all a fantastic morning, and it was an easy sell to the wives because the Grand Floridian, with a fantastic spa, is in spitting distance. We'll be back to check out the Palm course next time we are in Orlando.

Good public course with pace of play issues

I'm just getting back into golf and Maplegate is very convenient to my house. The course is generally in pretty good shape with some interesting and fun holes. I especially like the par 3 on number 8 over the pond.

My only problem with Maplegate is the pace of play as of late. The last three rounds we've played have been behind groups moving at a glacial pace, and we are by no means talented players. I have no problem with a leisurely round, we're all out to enjoy ourselves, but I don't want to spend 5+ hours trying to get through a round. I wish the rangers would be a little bit more strict in enforcing pace of play. Standing around in the teebox or, worse, pulling up to the teebox and seeing the group in front of you still hasn't teed off is just frustrating.
