Forced Carries/Long Iron Tee Shots

Course is in good shape and scenic. Played high school golf here and still do not appreciate marsh land being located in areas that would be considered good tee balls.

Good Metro Park Course

Great hot deal at $12. The course was out of the way, but I would definitely play again. Nicer than other metro park course, comparable with Kensington.

Nothing Exciting

The course was fairly simple and generic. Nice scenary on some of the holes, others were a cow pasture.

Great Greens

Most of the course had tree lined fairways. This may have been the last weekend with bright colors, which was nice. This is not a course that will ever make a best in Michigan list, but is maintained very well and the greens rolled incredibly true. Note, fairways did not have a single fallen leaf on them.

Great Municipal Style Course

Course was in great condition and well laid out. Very enjoyable day of golf. Being super picky... Back nine was cheapened by a park and couple holes by a neighborhood street. So if you're looking for a wilderness experience take that into consideration.

Hmm...

The course was in pretty rough shape and they just aerated the greens. Cart paths have nearly disintegrated, rough and fairways are super bumpy and tee boxes need to be redone. In that price point, I'd much rather play Hilltop or Fox Hills. They did have quality Michigan microbrews on tap for $2... Score.

Huge Fairways, Pull Out the Driver

Had a layout similar to Majestic in Hartland. I do not think you could miss the fairways here if you tried. They were rolling, but some of the widest landing areas I have ever seen. Course was in pretty good shape with awesome wildlife and scenery. They need to redo their bunkers. They tried making these intricate shapes, but it's not working. They look cheesy.

Nice Sunday Stroll

Grounds crew could get on the tee boxes and greens. Greens were pretty slow and tee boxes were shaggy. Trees, but wide fairways. Lots of wildlife. * lesser quality than Kensington, but not as much noise.

Surprised by Greens

Played the north, not sure how the south plays. Nothing amazing, but a good course. $10 hot deal made it a great purchase. The greens were tight and rolled nicely.

Fast Greens

For he most part a very straight forward course. There was not one hole where I struggled on where I should be placing the tee shot. Ford lake offered some great views, enough trees and reasonably forgiving. The greens were fast and rolled awesome. I blew a few by the hole, but they also allowed for some holed putts at distances I usually don't make with a shorter stroke. Only cons... Enough people out there that didn't have the ability to play this course. Had to pass two groups and yardage markers were odd or missing.

Shaggy Greens, Cheap Shandy

The tee boxes and greens needed to be cut. They were both rockin' some serious overgrowth. Rough was also super long for a public course and made for slow downs as groups ahead were looking for balls. This was just your average cow pasture course, but worked fine for my beginner golfer girlfriend. The best part of the day was $8 pitchers of Summer Shandy pitchers late in the season. * I would only play here for the $10 hot deal with an unsure golfer.

Good Course (classic)

Nothing special, but a relatively scenic round of golf for a good hot deal price. I don't think I'd pay more than $25 to play the classic. Their three courses get mixed up on reviews.

Fun, Challenging Layout

Would love to go back for a second time and play 16-18 (poor man's Amen Corner) with a more level head. Awesome scenery and challenge. If the course was in pristine shape, it wouldn't be a golfnow hot deal. Thought bunkers could use more sand and greens could be a tad better.

Greens are Great!

Fairly easy course that allows for some mishits. I missed nearly every green and shot 81. The greens are incredibly healthy, roll true and are decently quick. They would have to be in the running for best greens in the area, currently. The only downside, for what would be a great course... Usually busy, freeway noise and constant gunshots from the range. Makes for a noisy day.

Makings of an Authentic Links Course

I would say this course would be a challenge for a first timer. Fair number of blind tee shots. I played with a kid from the grass lake golf team that knew the course very well. This made it a moderate challenge, but a hole or two in the fescue could cause numbers to rise. The layout was incredible and the closest thing to Ireland 30 minutes from my house. With a bit more attention to tee boxes and some greens this course would be a 5 all day. I definitely want to play again.

Greens and Fairways

Got the $11 deal here. I drove about 35 miles to get here, but would not drive that far for this course if I was paying full price. Scenery was descent and rough was close to being hard pan. The greens and fairways made this a very enjoyable day. Golfnow did overbook my time slot, but clubhouse staff did not skip a beat on getting me out there.

Links and Woods

I paid $11 and would do that any day. The front nine was incredibly easy and an average attempt at a links style course. The back nine was much more scenic with plenty of trees and the typical grooming issues of a public track. They just vertical cut the greens which created a bumpy roll to the cup.

Nice wooded course

Played here for the first time and was reasonably impressed. The greens rolled nicely. There are plenty of trees that do not present too much trouble.
