Wentworth Golf Club
Played On 03/18/2017Good staff, practice area, amenities, but not an enjoyable course to play
The staff was nice. The clubhouse, Mulligan's pub, and practice areas are nice as well. The course however, isn't in top shape. The greens roll pretty true, but are also pretty hard as far as being receptive to your approach shots. The bunkers are deep, and there are a lot of them, which isn't really an issue, just an observation for people reading the reviews (I like playing from bunkers). They do however have rocks in them, so make sure you rake a place without rocks before you hit. They are also very fluffy, FYI. The course layout puts a premium on accuracy with many trees and elevated greens. Some even come into play in the center of certain fairways, so knowing the course is also important if you are going to score well. I don't mind shooting a bad score, that doesn't determine if I enjoyed playing a course. But with this course, with a combination of layout and condition, is not a very enjoyable place to play. The only way I would play this course again would maybe be in the summer months where it may be in its best shape, AND if I lived within 15 minutes of the course. But as someone who travels 30-50 minutes to play courses, this is not one i'd be willing to play again. To the staff: thank you for making the experience as enjoyable as possible. Best of luck with the course.
