Overseeding

Cart path only due to overseeding but a nice executive length course. Rolling hills and fairways in decent condition.Good value for the cost even with the situation.

Challenging Greens

Desert Sands is a flat easy to walk course surrounded by double wide trailers. I can't recall any sand traps. There are a spots on the course. where there is a pond. The pace was a little slow as we had carts and those in front were walking. Most interesting part was the greens. Very difficult to hit a green from the fairway and actually stay on the green as they tend to be somewhat like a turtle's back. This means a challenging putt most greens. But after a while it is fun to try and find the weight and correct angles.
Very reasonable cost included a power cart.

Don't Rely on your GPS to find it

My GPS took me to a central downtown location at 1 N San Marcos Pl.but that is not where the course is actually located. Go about one block north and drive down Buffalo Street westward a few blocks until you see the gates.
The fairways in some places are nearly bare so some re-sodding is required. There are unmarked canals running across some fairways (which of course I managed to find each time) Most greens are decent, one is being re-seeded.
There are no next hole direction signs nor any tee box signs indicating fairway direction, yardage or hole number.
We had the "special" Golf, hamburger, a pint of beer and a bag of chips for $39 bucks each.
The course is surrounded by nice homes and the course itself is flat, treed and reasonably attractive.
