TPC Scottsdale - The Champions Course
Played On 04/07/2017great foursome, over-priced golf
We've been coming to Phoenix for the past 15 years and I've now played 46 different courses in the valley, including 2 rounds at this course. Our most recent round was great - met two good guys from PA and had an enjoyable round - perfect weather, of course.
Course was in average condition, at best. Greens were good, fairways were tired and somewhat thin. At more than $100 per round - way over priced compared to places like Legacy/Baseline and Trilogy/Power Road. You're relying too much on TPC name to charge this much at the Champions Course.
The Phoenician Golf Club
Played On 03/31/2014A mini-Troon course
My wife and I played this for the first time. We've played more than 30 courses in the Valley during our vacations from Iowa. This course was maintained in typically good to very good Troon condition. But, the tight, short layout was a bit too tricked out. Pace of play was very slow, and there was no marshal in siight. My wife wants to play it again. I'd rather play courses like Troon North and Whirlwind than this.
Palm at McCormick Ranch Golf Club
Played On 03/30/2014Our "starter" course
You get what you pay for with this course, which is why we use it as our "starter" course each year when we come to Phoenix. It's not overly tough, and not overly expensive, but also not overly impressive. Course seems rather tired. Best part is the bubbly gal at the stand-alone snack shack near the driving range. She is always upbeat and positive. Too bad the course can't take on her attributes...
Longbow Golf Club
Played On 03/28/2014Always a winner
We played Longbow on a Thursday. My buddy and I were paired up with two Canadians in the area on vacation as well. We had a great time - good conversation, good jokes, and occasionally good golf. Longbow is always in good condition, and the staff is very friendly. Greens were rather hard, dry and a bit too fast, but other than that we had a good day. I can always count on Longbow for a good day of golf.
Talking Stick Golf Club - O'odham Course
Played On 4/11/2013Great course but the new greens are a challenge
The staff in the course are excellent as always. The new greens on the North course were hard and fast And not very receptive to an approach shot. I'm sure they'll soften up with time.
Golfer from Muscatine,
Sounds like you are a frequent visitor to the Phoenix area - I certainly haven't played 46 courses. There are so many more to play, too. We appreciate your choosing to play TPC Scottsdale. Like many courses in the area we are beginning to transition from our overseeding rye to Bermuda grass as the weather conditions get hotter, which is why you see some of the thinning fairways. The Champs is a great layout and fun to play.
Best,
