Want to like this course more. Hope they fix 16/17

This course has a great spot right on the river with a handful of awesome holes. Number 3 is one of the coolest par 3's in the metro area. Plays to an island on the river. But it also has some head scratchers that don't make any sense. I don't need to beat a dead horse about 16(I see other reviews have taken care of that). It's just a stupid/brutal little hole. They have a design in the clubhouse for a revamping of 17 which looks like it'll really help as that hole has always been goofy too. I live about 5 minutes from here and am hoping sooner or later they'll fix those holes so I can join already.

They did demolish the 9 holes across the road and they're putting in homes on that nine. As that 9 never really worked.

PROS: The stretch of holes along the river. The bent grass landing areas within the fairways are a nice touch. Nice clubhouse and patio area with the snack shop at the turn. It's 1 minutes off the freeway at the St Michael exit so you're close to the city but sure don't feel like it. The houses on the course are gorgeous as well.

CONS: Tee boxes along river suffer from lack of oxygen and you can have a hard time finding a good spot to stand. The aforementioned holes (16/17, and 7 is a bear, I hit a perfect drive to almost the max of the landing area and had 160 to the green but was blocked by a huge tree that needs to go)

All in all. Check this course out. Maybe give them some time early in 2016 to see if they fix 17. And just take your lumps on 7 and 16.

Getting better every year.

I've lived in this area for most of my adult life and play most of the courses within a half hour of me. And I must say this one is becoming the standout winner.

They hired a new superintendent a few years ago and he has transformed this course. And over the last 2 years they've done some major work on the course. You HAVE to check out the new tees on 7!! What a golf hole now!

Rest of the course is great. Good variety of holes. From flip wedge par 3's to 600 yard par 5's. The only drawback is no driving range (no room). And it's a fairly difficult course to walk as it gets a bit hilly.

Staff is good and the pace of play is never really an issue.

Am going to continue playing this course multiple times per year.

Too many goofy holes

I live very near the course and am a somewhat avid golfer with a group of friends which none of us are members anywhere. Meaning we bounce around a lot. Yet we do not play this course. Too many blind tee shots. This course was built in the housing boom and it seems like they just threw together a 7000 yard course so they could sell homes.

It has been in good shape when I've played it and has a handful of good, challenging holes.. But none worth enough to warrant this course over some of the others in the area.

Nice little track. VEERRY slow play

I like the layout for the most part. I didn't play it in 2015 (Had to pick a date in the year so I just grabbed one in early part of the year). It has some great holes (number 9 is a good tough par 4). They used to have super slick greens but in the past few years they slowed them way down. I once lipped out a putt on 15 and my putt went off the green. Much more normal speeds as of late.

The biggest problem I grew sick of was the pace of play. They shortened their time between tee times a few years ago and I frequently encountered 5 hour plus rounds. You'd cruise through 1 and 2. Then you'd come around the corner to the par 3 third and there'd be 3 groups sitting there. In fairness its a very tough hole so people do struggle. But they've got to do something about that via rangers, or widen the tee times back out.

If you can get on during a weekday when it would be a quicker pace then go for it. You'll like the round. The front nine is a little more wooded (it was built long before the back) and has a couple of cool holes around a small creek and a twister of a par 5 along the freeway. Back nine has a couple of fun holes. 14 has a rollercoaster of a green and can induce a 4 putt if you're not careful. 18 is a great finishing par 5. But if theres a few 5somes out in front of you... Better pack a lunch.
