Short Review.
We have visited and played this course several times over the years. We know it quite well and the changes in the course over the years.

The course is changing for the better in many ways with an owner that actually seems to care about the place. previous owners and neighbor (membership) was literally out of control, making the place unbearable to play, as the residents thought it was their private enclave.

Kudos for trying to do something positive with the place.
Always challenging, in very good shape, but the greens were not great, very uneven and bumpy. Did not roll well as they used to

Amenities: Fair. No food after 2 we were told.
The pro shop staff is also the bar staff, so when they are outside the building talking, no-one is inside at all to tend to customers. Unfortunate, but a reality each time we visit.

Overall a good day, but unfortunately, the day was once again marred by the pro-shop staff. An almost identical experience to the last one.

Honestly, Rude, Impatient arrogant and abrasive. We were told by a member that day that this is commonplace for this person and she is not well liked.

As we understand it, the worker lives in DI, The lady acted like she personally owned the club, and made us all uncomfortable with her demeanor. This has happened before, so we are guessing its a common occurrence.

its so unfortunate that Deer Island CC always seems to suffer because of a few people who just dont understand customer service.

This has been a chronic issue at the club, and I can only hope the latest owner finally address it. The pro shop is just a poor experience each and every time.

I'm not sure who's writing the reviews saying that these greens are in decent condition, buthe reality is that the greens are in terrible condition as of November 2019
Seriously, don't waste your time going here..
it really is overpriced for the quality that you get.

Pro-shop barely looks at you, the starter should not be out there interacting with people, he has zero personality and zero customer service skills

We Would not go back...

Ive played this course a few times over the past few years while visiting family locally. While there are several far better courses around, I was invited so I went. Im a regular and decent golfer and have been to dozens of public courses.

What is shocking to me about BB is that on each of the past 3 visits the staff appears to be fine except for the arrogance and frankly, lack of any customer service skills of the head pro there (Benton i believe). He is coarse, moody and abrasive. He appears determined to demean people who simply ask a question anything about price, food, balls etc.

We have played there for the last time due to this rude person. Just no call to treat people that way. Looking at other reviews, it appears we are certainly not alone. I wish management would remind this employee he is just that... and employee and needs to remember who pays his salary.

Poor experience...

Ive always enjoyed eagle dunes, but the current conditions are truly horrendous.

Im a serious golfer and ive always like ED, so this is mean to be just honest and frank feedback.

There are literally almost no fairways left here. You are playing off dirt. I wish i was exaggerating, but im not...

The Greens are OK, but not what they used to be.

I realize people want to be kind, but in the end its a business and ED is sorely lacking compared to the other courses around it.

Lastly, I usually don't see much mention of the driving range in reviews, but ED is one of the worst Ive ranges ever seen in its current state.

You are literally hitting off of dried up dirt with gaping holes all over.

Its a real shame really. It looks like the course is in the last chapter of its existence before it shuts down for good.

Hoping for MUCH better maintenance and a future for this place...

Please save this place and return it to what it used to be, before its gone to another housing developer...

One of the worst, Possibly THE worst course Ive seen in Florida. terrible conditions and staff seems to be a group of old guys who think its their back yard. They need someone behind the counter with some social skills.

Favoritism shown to members who walked right onto the 1st tee in front of us even though we were at the tee box in our carts waiting to go. When we approached them, we were basically laughed at.

The course is honestly a cow pasture and weeds everywhere. greens are the worst we have ever seen. Just terrible and we see now why this course has such a poor reputation.

if you want to play with the livestock, this is the place...
