Sapphire National Golf Club
Played On 06/24/2021Never got to play
I had a 2:40 pm tee time and when we got to the course it was closed. The parking lot was dry (no trace of rain). We traveled 2 hours each way to play this course. We never received a text, call or email that the course was closed. I believe that the Pro shop manager only had a few tee times and decided to take the rest of the day off without any professional courtesy to call, text or email me and my party of the course being closed. Sapphire National ruined our whole day!!! I better not get charged for this tee time.
Macatawa Golf Club
Played On 04/01/2017Windy and ling
This course is extremely windy which makes play unpleasant in my book. Not a very scenic course or layout in my opinion, but it was very early in the season.
Quail Ridge Golf Club
Played On 10/05/2014West Michigan must play course
I usually play Quail Ridge 3 or 4 times a season. Great course, but if it's rained recently this course will be quite wet. Course is open to lots of wind most of the time and on most of the holes. A very challenging and pretty layout.
Yarrow Golf Course
Played On 09/29/2014Beautiful Day but slow play :(
I like to get to Yarrow at least once or twice a year. Great course but the nice weather must have brought out all the slow players. We had 2 4-somes in front and had to wait on every shot, what a bummer for a long drive to and from Rockford, MI.
Amana Colonies Golf Club
Played On 09/06/2014Slow play made for a long afternoon!
Great course and facilities. Saw the ranger 2 or 3 times on the front BUT not once on the back nine. I played in a 3-some with a 2-some in front and a 4-some of terrible golfers in front of the 2-some. The 4-some didn't let the 2-some go through until the 17th hole. I had driven 90+ miles to play a great course and the back nine waiting on every shot made for a very irritating 9 holes of golf. The course was in great shape and quite challenging with almost every hole having an elevation change.
Bedford Valley Course at Gull Lake View Golf Club and Resort
Played On 08/31/2014Nice relaxing day golfing
Course was in very good condition, staff were helpful and very professional. Course was for the most part wide open with a few tighter holes. Nice layout and let you play at a pleasant pace and work on your game a little. Greens were slower than what I normally play though I could see that if they were mowed a little tighter the greens could be much more challenging.
The Ravines Golf Club
Played On 08/23/2014one of the premier courses to plsy in West Michigan
Absolutely in great condition as always. Pace of play was good. Fairways were soft and greens a little firmer than normal. Very scenic yet is a little more forgiving off the tee. I always look forward to playing the Ravines two or three times per year.
Stonegate Golf Club
Played On 09/22/2013Up north feel but close to home!
I played this course recently and they had just aerated the greens, so was not happy with that part of the course, otherwise this is a great track and fun to play. All green supt. should do what St. Ives recently did and only aerate 1/2 of the green now and put pins in non-aerated portion of the green for excellent putting. Then a week or two later come back and do the other portion of the green. This is a must play course for any West Michigan golfer. Up north feel and layout without the 2-4 hour drive.
Thornapple Creek Golf Club
Played On 08/24/2013Picture perfect facility
Very beautiful and challenging course. You will need to play this course a couple of times to learn the lay of the land and where you want to be off the tee to score well. Flags did not have prisms on them so my laser had a hard time giving accurate readings which is critical in club selection. Most shots into the greens were more club than you would normal use due to the continuous elevation changes. Greens and pin placements can make putting difficult. Most breaks on the greens were more than you thought. Overall a great course which I would recommend and look forward to playing again.
St. Ives Golf Club
Played On 08/04/2013This is a must play West Michigan course!
Very nice course and always in excellent condition. Very challenging but worth your time and money to play it.
Katke Golf Course
Played On 7/13/2013Great course, great staff and facilities
The course has made some improvements if you haven't played it in a few years. Great practice facility. Staff was very friendly and nice pro shop and grill on site. Easy to get to and only 1 hour north of Grand Rapids. Highly recommend you play this course soon!
Waters Edge Golf Club
Played On 06/16/2013Course has a lot of blind shots and a weird layout. Not a course that I like to play.
If you like a lot of blind shots and weird layouts than this course is for you. If you like to know where you are going and how to get there I wouldn't recommend this course.
Brookside Golf Course
Played On 06/02/2013Course was in good shape. Speed of play was good. Course has a mixture of tough and some easier holes. A good value for yur money.
Brookside will challenge your course management skills. The course was in very good condition too. There is a lot of scenery to see and water on many of the holes.
The Links at Bowen Lake
Played On 5/5/2013This course is challenging and keeps you on your toes!
This course is not for the beginner, some holes can be tight and long. Course was in great shape and reasonably priced through Golfnow.com.
