First Time Playing

First time but not the last!

For the first time playing the course. I was very impressed. Course condition was great and the staff was very friendly. The course was not so difficult as to limit play to seasoned golfers but it still poses adequate challenge holes for low handicappers. Player services staff was friendly and drink selection was well kept and extensive. In cart GPS was clunky!

Long drive from home

This is course is far away from everything. Course is in good condition and the pace of pay was good. The snack bar facility was not managed well. Food took 15 minutes at the turn and the staff did not offer to bring order out to us to ensure that there was not a backup of golfers. We left angry and hungry to finish up the back 9. Other then that we had a great time.

Hit them straight!

With the fescue height in excess of 10", if you hit an arrant shot your done. Two feet into the rough and you and taking a drop.

Accurate, conservative and conscious shot making is a requirement. Greens and fairways are in good shape.

Thank you for your review. The native grass can indeed be quite thick- we try to encourage golfers to play it as a lateral water hazard. Thanks again- we hope to see you again in the future.!

Punishment at the Palmer Course

This is probably the 20th time that I have played this course. The facility and staff have never let me down. I was entertaining clients from across the country and this was indeed a treat and a "punishment." for them.

Coming from Cleveland my clients had spent the last five months hunkered down in the snow with little to no ability to pick up a golf club. For this reason alone the Palmer course proved more than they could handle. Although a seasoned golfer can shoot low rounds at this course, the beginner or rusty golfer can see some difficulty in the undulating greens and dogleg fairways. No matter what you say it is not the pristine fairways that force arrant shots. Pace of play was good and the starters definitely take into account skill levels and group sizes when populating the start list. It was very seldom that we were either pushed or shoved by any other golfing enthusiasts.

I would always recommend this course to Arizona visitors and I would also urge golfers to try not only the Palmer course but the Faldo which is also located on campus. We wary, the Faldo is more challenging in my opinion.

Hit them straight and play AZ golf you wont regret it.

Short course in the desert.

I grew up playing this course. It is challenging but does not help out the long ball hitter. Iron play and hybrid off the tee is a common option for low handicap golfers.

The course can become clogged at times because it is a popular resort destination. Seattle Seahawks were staying there the same day we played and nobody was golfing. The super bowl made sure of that!

I have played the course over 100 times and I will play it again I'm sure! Challenging, scenic and centrally located it's hard to beat at times. Don't go after the 100 year flood.

Childhood golf memories

" Kenny-Mac," is what we called the course as kids and still do today as adults. This hidden gem is where I cut my teeth on as a young golfer. Hidden down a lonely road adjacent to the YMCA, Ken Mac is not going to appeal to the elite golfer. This Tempe, Arizona prize is meant for fun times on the course with family and friends. The course was in great shape with the occasional ground under repair areas located where golfers should not be hitting the ball anyway. The greens were a little slow bit rolled true. Fairways could compete with most high end golf courses in the valley.

The staff at the facility are extremely friendly and golfer satisfaction is always achieved. The clubhouse although older in design has some great food and the beer is always ice cold. A GREAT value, and a great place to hone your skills as a beginning golfer. Pace of play can be slow at times so please be patient.
