Cardinal Golf Club - RedCrest
Played On 08/29/2016Excellent Challenge for low-mid handicappers on an very nice Course
Conditions are very good, amazing even, considering the traffic the course gets.
The course itself is very well laid out, with plenty of challenging but fair holes. The greens are moderately fast, and true. It would be nice if everybody fixed their ball marks, and divots, but the greens crews do their best to control the damage.
Carts are brand new, and with GPS that actually works. It monitors pace and will shut the cart off if you go where you're not supposed to.
It would be difficult to find a course where the staff are more efficient, knowledgeable and courteous.
The Future: I hope that the new management, in its quest to impress new ownership, doesn't compromise the integrity of the golf course (and its experience) via "nickel & dime" cost cutting.
Challenges:
Bunkers: Lots of bunkers. Sand is moderately coarse, but uniform throughout all holes.
Water: Lots and lots of water, and on most holes. Water is ... well, water. Avoid it.
Rough: Primary rough sits at about 4 inches, and is tricky at best. Secondary rough - don't go in there - it's jungle.
Beer: At these prices are you kidding? Stephen Harper told us that ridiculous alcohol prices are there to teach us "social responsibility"..... he should pay nine bucks for a beer.
Dolphin Head Golf Course
Played On 05/23/2016A real gem!
Greens had been punched but that's ok. Something they gotta do...
The course is really pretty, but look out....it has teeth. Lots of dogleg par 4s. Course is challenging but fair. Bunkers need a bunch of work , but given the volume of rain lately, that's understandable.
Good course... a must play.... really nice people....
Don't miss this one....but bring your A game..
Crescent Pointe Golf Club
Played On 05/22/2016Great Course: Wet day
The monsoons had hit the night before so the course was really soft and wet on the fairways and the greens were slow since they couldn't get the mowers out.
But that's why we adjust our game, n'est ce pas?
Crescent Pointe has been one of HHI's little known treasures over the years. To anyone reading this....get out there and play this track. It's worth every dime!
Galleon/Brigantine at Shipyard Golf Club
Played On 05/20/2016Nice Surprise
Who would have thought that sometimes maligned Shipyard would be in such terrific shape, especially at this time of year. General consensus from guys I played with is that Shipyard has the best conditions on the island. I agree...
Gonna come back..
Cove Cay Golf Club
Played On 03/09/2016Always a pleasure
This is a fun, short(ish) course with lots of interesting challenges. The greens were in rough shape when the current owners took it over a few years ago, but everyone's efforts are starting to pay off. Don't expect Pebble Beach, but it's lots of fun and well priced
Eagle's Pointe Golf Club
Played On 05/14/2014Well worth the drive
Played on a Wednesday am. Hooked up with Rusty and Steve , 2 great guys from Cincinnati. Course was in great shape, although if I wanted to be real picky, the greens were a bit slow. Real friendly and accommodating staff.
I will definitely play this course again.... soon.
The Links at Georgian Sands
Played On 7/05/2013Tough but fair
From tee blocks to greens the course is excellent! 18 has some construction, but it doesn't interfere other than visually. A few blind tee shots ( including 18 where a 240 yard fly with fade gets you who knows where?) Greens are not super fast, but they are pristine. The staff, just like Marlwood, are superb. They are all hard core golfers and really "get it". The pace was really good and we were never held up or crowded. Will I be back.... definitely and soon!!
Bradford Highlands Golf Club
Played On 1/5/2013PLAY THIS COURSE!!!
Bradford Highlands is pretty, challenging, and in great shape.
Green fees are reasonable.
The course moves well, with no serious bottlenecks, and the players are pretty laid back. There is very little of the "big city uptight golfer attitude" around there.
The staff are excellent. From Brad and Ryan in the pro shop to the turf guys, you always get a smile and every effort to ensure you enjoy your game. Definitely worth the drive!
