I played this course for the first time last week and returned two more times. It’s an interesting layout with some very good holes. The condition was a little shaky in spots probably because over seeding is coming up soon. All three of my rounds were completed in less than four hours and the last one was just a little over three. The only negatives were the unfriendliness of the cart guys and the absence of a starter which made pairing up with our assigned playing partners somewhat awkward. All things considered a solid 4 out of 5 rating.

I rank this as a “B” category course compared to other desert courses I have played over 50 years. That shouldn’t be regarded as a negative because I am a tough grader. I give it an “A” for value when comparing its green fees with the others.

Unfortunately the foursome ahead of us was slow and there wasn’t a marshal to speed them along.
This put a damper on an otherwise nice day.

My wife and I have played Northstar many times and have always enjoyed ourselves even though the back nine is more challenging than fun. Unfortunately this year Mother Nature has not been kind to Northstar. The combination of bad smoke from forest fires in the area and terrible greens resulting from a difficult winter made for a less than enjoyable experience. There was good news at least in that we practically had the course to ourselves and the green fees were reduced because of its poor condition. The staff was terrific.
We will give the course another try when we return to Tahoe next year and hopefully will find things back to normal.

We looked for a Saturday tee time kind of late and the best we could come up with was Cimarron at 2:40 at a price fair for 9 holes . We went for it . When we arrived we were told things were delayed but we were given a twilight rate. This gave us positive vibes for the pro shop. The ten holes we played were ok. Not a course I would rush to play but overall we had a nice time and the value was very good.

Play. Too bad because I like the course.
