Great Day at Excellent Course

The Sinatra at RM was in great condition for early in November Overseeding happened a few weeks earlier and consequently the greens were slower than is normal but not impossible I have played this course many times when it was Desert Island, the same friendly staff are there. There is no housing directly on this course, it is on the Island, so it has a different feel than most Desert courses. Golfers are allowed to walk and playing time is excellent, our threesome was ;under 4 hours, 2 walkers and one power cart.

What a View

This was my first time playing this course, and I would definitely play it again. It is a Pete Dye course, so the short game aspects of the game are challenging, elevated greens with steep side slopes, lots of traps and the signature railroad ties around the water. A reasonable amount of water but still very playable. The backdrop for this course is the Mountains in the near horizon, they are spectacular and always visible. Very good range and short game area. Great price for a online 4some booking

Too Challenging for Average Golfers

I have played this course a number of times and generally enjoyed it. This time, it struck me that the layout and course conditions make it very challenging for a golfer with a handicap of 14 and above. The greens are mostly elevated plateaus, with sides designed to run your ball away. The greens are generally large, very firm, fast with significant swhales and rolls. It is difficult to stick the ball on the green and have it stay. Which becomes frustrating at some point when everything rolls off. The fairways are firm and very closely mowed. Off the fairways is not watered and unkept. They have removed some natural bushes from rough which means fewer balls are lost and play is slightly faster. Maybe I just had an off day, but the course conditions around the greens were too punishing and left me feeling, I would not rush to come back.

Hi PhilipR,
Thank you so much for your review! We're happy to hear you had a goof experience. We'll take in mind of what you had to say about off the fairways. We hope to see you back here!

Exceeded Expectations

A course I had viewed many times to and from airport. This was first time actually playing Cimarron. The weather was excellent and the course was in great condition for early in the winter season. Fairways were lush and greens firm. Greens were a little slower than many courses but not a huge issue. This would be very walkable course, if allowed, but carts were included in price and cart path only rule was for first hole only. Being able to take carts on fairways, certainly improved pace of play which at about 4:40 was high but not unreasonable for public play course. Facilities include a good range and practice green. I did not find a short game area. Staff were polite but not really friendly. We only saw food cart once on back 9 and all the food was gone, so drinks only. Some lost sales there. The course was in good condition, and good value so I would recommend and return. Location has all the local mountains as a natural backdrop from every hole. Great scenery if the game is not going well.

Terrible Greens Good Course

The tee boxes, fairways and sand traps were in excellent condition. Unfortunately the same could not be said for the greens. The greens suffered some kind of application burn in December and are not really playable. They are bumpy with no patches of smooth grass. Putts bounce up and down and do not roll properly. Putting is half the strokes in a round of golf, so bad greens cannot be overlooked. The course only mentions the greens when you are on the first tee, not in the pro shop as you are paying. A $10 discount does not cut it. A future reduced replay rate is probably the most reasonable suggestion as to what course management should be doing.
