Heron Glen Golf Course
Played On 05/27/2019Another Great NJ Public Course
This was the first time playing Heron Glen. The conditions were wonderful. It is a very walkable course; you'll get a work-out, but it's very doable.
The layout is interesting and with the multiple tees, it was easy to select a set that was challenging without being punishing. I found it to be very woman friendly.
Definitely going to play it again!
Forest Lake Golf Club of Ocoee
Played On 03/04/2017Nice Local Gem!
Our threesome played the course on a sunny, warm saturday in March. They had a nice warm-up area complete with 2 chipping areas and a very tricky practice green.
The carts have a basic GPS system which showed the distance to the hole. The fairways were in great shape as were the bunkers. The greens were a little bumpy, but it is March so I wasn't expecting pristine conditions.
The staff was great, and they even had a ranger that helped keep pokey golfers moving so as to minimize backups. There was a beverage cart that came around several times, and the club house bar/grille was very nice.
Overall, we enjoyed our experience and would definitely play the course again.
Olde Homestead Golf Club
Played On 07/24/2016Beautiful Links Course in Farm Country
We played this course on a hot, sunny Sunday afternoon. The course was beautiful! It's a links style course that runs through rolling hills and farm country. It was in great shape. The fairways and greens were pristine, and the speed of the greens was consistent from hole to hole.
The staff was amazing and amazingly friendly and welcoming. Everyone from Glenn in the proshop to Vic and Danielle in the bar did everything they could to make our day a fun and memorable one.
The carts have a GPS system which really helps if you're not familiar with the course. There is ample hydration on the course in the form of water bottles and the beverage cart.
The bar has a great deck to relax at after your round. The food was delicious, affordable and attractively presented. Kudos to the chef!
Overall, everyone in our group loved the course and wants to come back again. It's an hour drive for most of us, but everyone said it was worth it, and I couldn't agree more.
Skippack Golf Course
Played On 07/19/2016Nice Course in a State Park Setting
This course is a tale of two nines. The front 9 is mostly open. There is no water but lots of sand. Most of the bunkers could do with some fresh sand; several are more like dirt than sand.
The back 9 is more tree-lined and hilly. It's beautiful, but several of the back 9 holes require an accurate tee shot. The course is walkable. You'll definitely get a good workout. The times I've played there isn't a on-course cart person, but there is a nice grill at the turn.
The staff are very friendly and helpful. The restaurant has good food and nice patio. My only complaint is that the service from the kitchen is very slow.
Overall a good course at a great price.
Rocky Gap Casino Resort
Played On 07/02/2016Gorgeous Mountain Golf
Golfed over the July 4th weekend and loved the course. The front 9 is mountainous with a few blind tee shots. You'll definitely need some extra balls for this one. The back 9 is more open, but no less beautiful. The course was in good shape however, they punched the greens a few days before. Aerating before a holiday weekend? Not a great idea. Bumpy greens made for some difficult putts.
The staff was very helpful and friendly, and the pro shop was well stocked. The practice area was wonderful! A nice sand bunker as well as a nice chipping area and putting green. Very nice!
Bella Collina Golf Club
Played On 03/21/2015Amazing Layout and Architecture
This was our first time playing Bella Collina Golf Course. Wow, what an experience. The course winds its way through some beautiful, hilly, Orlando countryside. Yes, I did say hilly and Orlando. The area was originally orange groves, and in fact there are still lots of orange groves in the area.
The clubhouse complex is amazing. It looks like an Italian villa sitting on a hill, and yes, it does look just like the pictures on the website. It’s gorgeous. The pro shop is relatively small and not much selection for either men or women. Be sure to check out the locker rooms! The staff is very attentive and helpful. The starter, Willy, had lots of good advice that you would do well to listen to. The course is challenging, but it doesn't beat you up.
The course has a TON of sand. If you’re anything like me, your sand game will be much improved at the end of the round, or you’ll go buy a new sand wedge. The golf carts have a GPS and course info. I would suggest the course invest in larger screens. The small size makes it hard to see in the bright sunlight. The on course bathrooms are in the same style as the clubhouse and beautiful. They are the nicest on course bathrooms I’ve ever seen. Definitely two thumbs up for female friendliness!
The on course beverage and food cart was well stocked, and the staffer very pleasant. They have a 19th Hole Restaurant, but we had to get home and didn’t have a chance to try it out. This was a really nice golf experience. We’ll definitely play this one again!
Legends Golf & Country Club
Played On 10/25/2014Needs Better Management
Our threesome played Legends-Clermont this past weekend. We took advantage of their golf/lunch/range balls special. Our tee time was 10:30am, and we arrived at the course at 9:15am. We paid for the special but was informed that they were out of range balls at the moment, but if we came back in about 15 minutes there should be some available. Really? A Saturday morning and you’re out of range balls????
Anyway, we wandered around the small pro shop which was adequately stocked with both men’s and women’s golf items. We did some putting and eventually got the range balls to warm up before heading out.
When it was time to head out the ranger was helpful with basic course info. However, that’s about where the course helpfulness ended. The course was packed and there were several very slow foursomes ahead of us. At no time during the round did we see a ranger. At one point after making the turn there were 3 foursomes waiting on Hole 10. We found out later from the cart dude that there was a really slow group that refused to speed up even after being talked to twice. But they weren’t removed from the course so it backed the entire day up. We waited on every hole on the back nine. Needless to say, we’re not impressed with the management. The course had some very nice elevation changes which were fun but it definitely was showing wear and tear and the greens were inconsistent and in bad shape.
When we finished our round (over 5.5 hours) we went to get lunch in the grill. Imagine our surprise when we were told that the grill closed at 3pm. When we purchased the golf/lunch combo that fact wasn’t communicated, but if the course had been managed adequately we would have finished in plenty of time to get lunch. So the sketchy course management resulted in a sub-par experience and no lunch. They did refund us the lunch cost of our payments without complaint. However it wasn’t the best last impression.
In summary, this was a disappointing experience. The course has potential, but it needs work and management really needs to rethink how it schedules players and how it handles slow play. At this point we have no plans to put this course on our replay list, and I wouldn’t recommend it.

Eagle Creek Golf Club
Played On 10/24/2014Affordable, Fun and Interesting
My husband and I played Eagle Creek on Friday taking advantage of their golf/lunch deal. The proShop was well stocked for both men and women and was well laid out. The staff, starter and rangers were pleasant and helpful. The snack shack had the usual selection, and the worker was also very helpful and efficient.
The course was in nice shape as were the greens. It was well-marked and interesting. On the back nine there are lots of pot bunkers. They are nice to look at but hard to get out of. The finishing hole was very nice. Be warned there is a lake in front of the green. There are 3 par 5’s on the back nine which made it challenging and the greens were fast.
Overall it was a fun round of golf on a nice course with nice people.

Ballyowen Golf Club
Played On 10/18/2014Good if You Like Links Style Courses
Played the course with some friends this past saturday. The course is in nice shape. The greens were a bit tricky to get a feel for the speed but also in good shape. The course was packed so we waited on every hole. It took over 5 hours to complete the round.
The staff was friendly and helpful. We got there early to have lunch, and it's a good thing we did as they were closing the Pub at 2pm for a wedding which we were told is a regular occurrence. Since that was the only place to get food it would be a good idea to let golfers know that when they make a tee-time that there are no other eateries available on the premise and they'll have to go elsewhere if they want to eat after their round.
The pro shop was well stocked for men, but only a small section for women. I'm guessing not many women play this course.
The starter and ranger were nice and personable. They couldn't do much about the pace of play. It would probably be helpful to space the tee-times out. We played after 1pm at a price of $95 per person which I thought was a bit pricey.
Overall it was an okay experience. If you like links style courses you might find it more enjoyable. If you prefer a woodsy layout I suggest you take a pass on Ballyowen.
Hideaway Hills Golf Club
Played On 10/03/2014Great Course/Very Slow Play
I played HH with my husband. The layout is beautiful, course while challenging, is fun. I was also encouraged to see all the signs regarding keeping the pace of play moving. In fact, in each cart was a large sign detailing what that meant and what would happen if POP wasn't adhered to. Unfortunately this policy wasn't encouraged or enforced.
After 6 holes we caught up to an "outing" of guys. From hole 7 on in we waited on every hole. Our round took 5 hours and 15 minutes!?!?!? In that time we saw no rangers and no one was told to pick up the pace. We teed off at 2:15pm which should have given us more than enough time to finish with daylight. Instead we played the last hole in the dark.
The grill folks were very personable and helpful and the selection was good. The Pro Shop attendant was helpful...in the pro shop. There was absolutely no player management on the course.
We enjoy this course. However, we won't be coming back anytime soon and will warn others to expect a long round. If/when we do try again, we'll be sure to check to see if there are outings scheduled for the day since they get precedence and the normal POP rules aren't enforced.
In summary, it's a nice course that takes too long to play.
We thank you very much for choosing to come visit us out here at Bella Collina, and we are very happy that you enjoyed your time here. Next time you will have to stop in the 19th hole before or after your round!
