The Home Course
Played On 05/26/2017Great Course, Slow PLay
This is a terrific course, well designed, gorgeous views and pretty well maintained. The greens were slow and scrubby on the day we played, but the course was in great shape otherwise.
Unfortunately, the pace of play was very slow, we were stuck behind a foursome who had a spectator in tow and they were really slow; not only was the group ahead's pace of play slow, they were taking photographs on most of the greens after putting (the views are gorgeous, but this was ridiculous). There was a marshal on the course who claimed he had asked this group to speed up, but really he should have had them either pick up and advance or let us play through. I know everyone complains about slow play, but by 11 or 12, they'd fallen so far behind that the group ahead of them had already finished (6 holes behind!).
Lastly, the cost was a bit steep, the round itself was $54, which is reasonable, but the cart was $16 per person ($32 total) - it's a great course, but that's excessive during the week.
Shadow Mountain Golf Club
Played On 08/31/2014Fun old place
The course is flat and fairly simple, but you'll find a lot of doglegs and out of bounds situations that make it more challenging that it appears. The staff is friendly and the rates are great.
The Classic Club
Played On 06/15/2014Great Course!
This was my first time playing the Classic, it's great course and very challenging. I played in the off/hot season so things were a little dry, but the course stil looked nice. The safe was friendly. I'll definitely play again if I can get a good rate.
Sandpiper Golf Course
Played On 03/24/2014Challenging course, great greens.
Very fun and challenging course. Tough, but honest greens. Awesome views from some holes. Very friendly staff.
Lost Canyons Golf Club - Shadow Course
Played On 9/11/2013Dirt Cheap rate for all dirt fairways
I played the Shadow Course, which I have always liked and got a Hot Deal at $12, which makes it hard to pass up. I was not aware until I arrived that Lost Canyons is intentionally letting the Shadow course die, so the fairways are just dead, yellow grass and a lot of dirt. The greens are in decent shape and are actually green in color. For $12 it was totally worth it, but any more that that and I would have skipped it. Check out the photo I uploaded, that's the 5th or 6th hole, all of the yellow is fairway that used to be green.
Shorecliffs Golf Club
Played On 7/4/2013On the shorter side, but very challenging
Shorecliffs is an odd, but interesting golf course and definitely worth checking out if you're in the area. The fairway conditions were a bit rough the day I played, but greens were rolling well. Don't assume anything about the course based on the overall yardage on the card, it's short, but the holes are tight and very challenging.
Coos Golf Club

Watson is a hidden gem that appears to go widely unnoticed, likely because of the sexier draw of the Bandon experience just down the road. I discovered this course on a road trip from Southern California to the Northwest; I searched Golf Now for a well reviewed course with reasonable rates and Watson far exceeded my expectations. The friendly starter greeted me by name when I arrived and drove me to the first tee - which wasn't necessary, but very nice. The course is beautiful and well maintained. From the tips the course is challenging: the first two holes are long par fives that even big hitters would have trouble reaching in two; the tee shot off the the third is extremely tight and the hole plays to an uphill green; undulating fairways and elevation changes make the front tough. The back nine looks wide open from the tee of the tenth, but you'll find it becomes very tough very quickly and the 158 yard 16th from the top with its fierce wind and deceptively long carry is one of the toughest par threes Ive played. Play this course!
Catalina Island Golf Club
Played On 05/25/2013Fun place to play if you're on the island.
The Catalina Island course is a fun place to play and offers several challenging holes. The course is not a long one, but wind is certainly a factor. The staff is very friendly and if you find a deal here on golfnow, it's well worth it.
That is ridiculas, 6 holes out of place? I would have played thru whether they likeed it or not. A few drives over their heads would have done the trick. and marshalls who are scared of telling golfers to speed up or pick up should be relieved of their duties
