The Links Course at Shenandoah Valley
Played On 06/03/2022Fun course to play
The course was in great condition. We had a lot of rain the day before, I was expecting soggy conditions but found the course had no wet spots at all. This course has a good balance of forgiving holes and some challenging ones. I always enjoy playing this course, even though its a bit of a drive for me. Their power carts are the best I have ever seen. Super comfortable seats, built-in bluetooth speakers, etc. All courses should move to these carts.
Herndon Centennial Golf Course
Played On 09/24/2021Course is in great shape
I don't play Herndon as much as I used to, but the conditions of the course never disappoint. The course was in perfect shape. It was wet in spots due to all the recent rain. Its a fun layout and suitable to golfers of all abilities.
Brambleton Regional Park Golf Course
Played On 01/15/2021Course is in nice shape for the middle of winter
The course doesn't have its nice green color that it has in the middle of the summer, but there were no bear patches or anything. The course was a little damp in places, but overall was nice.
Thank you so much for taking the time to review the course. We are happy to hear that you enjoyed your experience and hope to see you again soon.
Algonkian Golf Course
Played On 09/25/2020Course remains in great shape
While many courses (even very expensive ones) are dealing with the damage caused by a very wet August, Algonkian is in great shape. Perhaps the grass at Algonkian is not as sensitive to all the rain we had? Fairways were in great shape, the tee boxes were fine as well. The greens had just been aerated (maybe earlier this week) but they appeared to be in great shape, except for the holes and sand. I think if we get a couple more rainy days, they will heal nicely in a week or two. Pace of play was fantastic, we never waited for the people in front of us and never were pushed from behind. Our round took less than 3.5 hours on a Friday. That does not happen to often at courses in this area.
Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback and we appreciate the positive feedback. We are glad you enjoyed your round and found the golf course in great condition. Hope to see you back again soon!
Reston National Golf Course
Played On 09/11/2020Course is in rough shape
I used to play this course regularly, because I could always find deals. However, the deals have been very few and far between, so I have not played here since last fall. Most tees were in very bad shape, mainly crusty mud or dirt. Where there was grass, they were just clumps of crabgrass. Most of the fairways were pretty rough as well. With the crusty mud and crabgrass, just like the tees.. Most of the greens were okay, but even some of the greens had cut down clumps of crabgrass. It was in the worst shape that I have ever seen this course in. I do hope it was just a fluke and can spring back. I would have been very disappointed if I had paid the full (expensive) rack rate for this course in the condition it was in.
Algonkian Golf Course
Played On 07/25/2020Course is in great shape
We had some significant rain on two of the days before I played, so the greens were very soft. But, the rest of the course was not bad at all.
Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback. We are glad you enjoyed your round and hope to see you back again soon.
Red/White at Shenandoah Valley Golf Club
Played On 07/03/2020Course is in great shape
The course was in its usual excellent condition. It was very crowded, but pace of play was not bad, less than 4.5 hours. It is a bit of a drive for me, but I would rather make the drive than pay the inflated rates that courses in the DC area are charging. It seems like there are fewer deals being offered by these courses as well. So, I guess I will be spending more time traveling to Front Royal.
Algonkian Golf Course
Played On 06/21/2020Excellent Condition
The course was in really nice condition. The grass in the fairways make the ball sit up like a mat at the driving range. Bunkers and greens were in great shape as well.
Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback on the course. We are glad you enjoyed your experience at Algonkian and hope to see you back again soon.
Twin Lakes - Lakes Course
Played On 06/14/2020Fun course to play, in excellent condition
As usual, the course was in excellent condition and the layout is great. I like the combination of some challenging holes, with some that are more forgiving.
I felt a little "bait and switched" with the cart fees. I thought i was getting a deal, but when I was hit with an $18 per person cart fee, it was no bargain at all. I heard others complaining about it outside the clubhouse as well. It seems like most courses in this area are trying to recoup their lost revenue due to COVID by upping their prices and/or not offering deals thru the various on-line sites.
Pleasant Valley Golf Club
Played On 10/19/2019Pace of play was excellent, course conditions rough
I have not played this course in several months. There are some interesting holes with split fairways, etc. so I was looking forward to playing it again. While most of the greens were in decent shape, many of the fairways and tees had bare spots, etc. We hadn't had much rain the past month or so, perhaps that added to the conditions. I would still not hesitate to play the course again, just not at full price.
Thank you for playing and for your review. We are glad you like the layout and the greens. We have been working hard on the fairways and tees. The fairways have come a long way over the past few weeks.
Reston National Golf Course
Played On 08/25/2019Fun course to play
The course was in great shape. I think that Reston has a nice variety of open holes, while some are tighter with sloping fairways. Reston is famous for slow rounds, but I played on a Sunday with gorgeous weather and it took a little under 4 hours. I hear golfers complain all the time about the pace of play at Reston, but I have had more 4 hour rounds than I have 5. So, my advice is: Don't be dissuaded by the course's reputation! Prepare for a 5 hour round, but then be pleasantly surprised when its 4.5 or less.
Hello jthagan,
Thank you for your comments. We're glad you enjoyed your round with us! Our recent change to 10 minute tee time intervals has resulted in consistently quicker rounds this summer. Thank you again.
Red/White at Shenandoah Valley Golf Club
Played On 07/28/2019Great Course
Another great day at Shenandoah. The course was in perfect condition and pace of play was fantastic (about 3.5 hours. With a weekend crowd, that is almost unheard of).

Played On 07/20/2018Another Great Day at Shenandoah
Once again, the course was in perfect condition. With the lack of rain, I was concerned the course may be dried out, but it was fantastic. It was a gorgeous day, so I expected it to be slow. But, once again, the pace of play was great.

Played On 06/08/2018Great Conditions Once Again
The courses (there are three 9-hole courses) were in perfect shape. Even with the huge amount of recent rains, there were no wet spots on the course that I saw. The staff is always very accommodating in working with me to play the 3rd course during my visit as well. With the fantastic price through GolfNow, it makes the 60 mile trek from my home well worth it.
Red/White at Shenandoah Valley Golf Club
Played On 05/11/2018Excellent Experience As Usual
This course is a about 60 miles from my house, so while driving there, I always wonder why I am not playing a local course. Then, when I get on the course, I realize that its well worth the drive, especially if you can get a bargain like this from GolfNow. The courses have a nice variety of challenging holes and ones where you can hit a bad drive and still save par or bogey. The courses are always in fantastic shape. I have played them the day after heavy rain (as was the case on this outing) and never saw any wet areas. Since there are three courses and the replay rate for an extra 9 holes is only $10, I always play all three courses when I go. The staff is always accommodating in working me in so I can play the last course too. There are now a handful of courses in Front Royal, Shenandoah has been and continues to be my favorite between all of them.

Played On 07/21/2017Fun Course, Great Pace of Play
Another enjoyable day at Shenandoah Valley. The course was in perfect condition, as usual. The course is 60 miles from my home, yet I make the trek about once a month to enjoy the fun layout and fantastic pace of play. If I can find a bargain (like I did on this day), it makes it difficult to pass up.
Hi, we appreciate you taking the time to review the course and rate us. Thank you for the 4 stars! We aim for a 5-star experience, so we always welcome feedback for improvement. Thank you for playing North at Bowling Green Country Club.
