Mediocre experience from what I consider one of the best in SA

Now granted, we did play the afternoon after a thunderstorm hit. Conditions were slightly soggy but not flooded. Practice range closes at noon? So no practice to warm up. Were never instructed in clubhouse of by starter that it was cartpath only, even though the group in front of us were on the fairway, so when we did the same, GPS failed to work thus giving us a guessing game of borrowing a rangefinder from one of us which got annoying after tge few first holes. Some of the cartpaths are quite a distance from some landing spots and it just isn't very fun playing like that carrying 2 or more clubs walking across the fairway, looking at sprinkler for yardage or playing the guessing game.

That being said, it is (personally) the toughest course in San Antonio. Roughs can be punishing and even finding your ball can be an obstacle. Some of the views are absolutely fantastic though, 18 is near impossible to beat, both with the view and score! Looking forward to going at it again hopefully with better luck.

Great RGV course

Slicers beware! A great course with water hazards all over, approximately 13 of the18 holes! Fun layout, some great risk-reward shots come into play. Pace of play is ATROCIOUS! Very very slow with no Marshal dictating tee-times or encouraging faster play. If they were to keep track of groups throughout the round, or at the turn at the very least, it would improve the course dramatically. Don't expect a sub 5 hour round usually.

That said, it is one of the better RGV courses. It's usually in very "playable" conditions with above average greens. The only greens I can say are better are the greens at Los Lagos and Tierra Santa in the RGV.

Great green, slow play

Nice layout, pretty straightforward with a few holes really deeming "local knowledge". The greens were phenomenal and very true. The course was a bit dirty and noisy, a little more upkeeping would make it an outstanding course. Still a "Top-3" course, in my opinion, in the RGV (Palm View, Los Lagos, Tierra Santa). Definitely looking forward to another round, just hoping it plays a bit faster than my first time.

One of San Antonio's best courses.

San Antonio is often overseen as a premier golf destination, but with it competing with other year-round golf locations like Florida, Arizona, California, and Hawaii... who can blame them! Those fortunate enough to visit the Alamocity and play golf at one of its many courses to choose from, should never overlook playing at The Quarry. In high temperature weather the back nine can be brutal, so take into consideration playing early on those days. It's layout is by far the most unique in San Antonio, probably anywhere in Texas, as it plays more of a "Links-style" course with very very few trees and water only being a factor in about 5 holes, and the back nine situated on a tiered quarry... thus its name. The views on the 17th and 18th are magnificent, as well as pulling up to the 10th. It is a fairly easy course, from all my experiences at various San Antonio courses, and I will easily shoot anywhere from a 6 to 12 stroke better than my average, which is a huge difference to playing the likes of Silverhorn (another course always in great condition but with very narrow fairways and over hanging tree lines). Overall, every out-of-towner has been very impressed with the quality and unique layout of The Quarry. A definate go-to course here in San Antonio.
