Pace of play

Played here for 20+ years. PACE OF PLAY is biggest detriment to this course. Locals are slow, poor, bad etiquette players. For late August corse in decent shape. Greens in great shape. Fortunately course empty. Played in 3.5 hrs-walking. Otherwise it’s a 4.5 hr round. Thank the golf GODS

Decent layout

Course was coming out of over seeding. Course played well, decent payout. Not too difficult. Good course to walk, even though we rode.

User friendly

Lots of right to left holes. Good for a lefty fade, righty draw. Course not fully recovered from over seeding, greens bumpy and slowish. Enjoyed teeing off to wide open look. Pace of play awful, although Marshall actually issued warnings and pace did pick up on back side. Want to play again but only for discount.

Poor golfers w/o etiquette

You know your golf day is going to be bad when the starter make an omission of how slow play is out on the course. The Marshal did everything he could to avoid the slow play. Only one water station too. Just a bad experience. 3-Rivers much better course in lay out and pace of play.

Thank you Chromate9 for your review and feedback of Mint Valley Golf Course. We are so happy you see the value in playing here with us. We are always monitoring pace of play, but it can be challenging to accommodate everyone at all times, but we try. Please come back and see us again soon!

Excellent use of topography

Well worth it to play here. Very well designed using old Quarry, plus planted trees improve the course look. Could be slow play if crowded. Have a few extra balls, course is narrow with lots of OB.

Be prepared

Very challenging course, not for causal golf. Too many technical shots. Even a good hit is often penalized. Would be more enjoyable if played a few times, but slow play is ok here, therefore tough to get rythm going. Only flat hole is 18. Most landing areas and greens are not visible from tee; par threes required carries over ravines. Mentally grueling.

Ok in off season

For 15 or less handicap fun course. Couple holes are poorly designed. # 11and 14 hole forced into landscape. Design of 10 11 12 par 5 4 3 respectively slow play down. Bad design for an already slow pace of play course. Otherwise fun to play and scenic.

Tough layout...

not for 20+ handicaps. Need to play it a few times. Bunkers are steep hard to get in and out of; need railroad tie steps or the like. Pace of play 4 hr 40 min marshals did nothing. Typical "not offend" slow players attitude from marshals.

Long, strange 70's era course

The look of the course from the first tee is a bit bewildering as you have to hit a drive over a high ridge with no view of your target. Then, unfortunately, you meet the ridge from the other side coming back on 9. The rest of the front is enjoyable, however, this is a long=hitters course. The tees on 10 are just across the cart path and level with from the tees on 1 -- nerve-wracking as anything but the straightest drive from either tee can be into the golfers on the other. The staff seem a bit burnt out and ready for the busy season to end. Back 9 challenging. 16-18 are LONG.

OK for the Price

Not a bad course for the price if you can get a deal. Pace of play can be slow and not much response from player assist to speed things up. Older facility. Staff we encountered last season were helpful and understanding however haven't felt that level of service this year.

South Course -- Great

Pace of play and conditions were not so good on the North course so we stayed on the south course for several rounds. Very much enjoyed the South and it has become one of our favorite courses in the area. Definitely look forward to coming back!

Not very helpful...

The issues we experienced with Haven were in trying to add a 4th to our threesome. Because we had made our tee time on GolfNow, the course refused to adjust our time even though the friend we hoped to add would have paid full price to play. We were told a 4th had been placed with us, as well. When we checked in 15 minutes early, we were told we were on the tee. After rushing to tee off -- unnecessarily as there was NO ONE in front of us, on the tee, or waiting -- there was no one else with us so we could have had our friend join us after all.
Made no sense and as out-of-towners, we missed a rare opportunity to play with a local friend. Disappointing.

Challenge but decent

Tough course from gold or black tees. Lots of carry and blind tee shots; cannot see the layout of many holes without going to tee off area first. HOWEVER, EXCELLENT COURSE for my wife as the forward tees ALWAYS played w/o trouble to tee off over.

Older course

Price good. Get a cart with new battery. Played west side. Like many holes but some were gimmick holes. Too narrow with big trees in way. Lots of tree debris on course. Good for the price about 1/2 the cost of other courses.

The course can be a lot of fun and challenging.

The mix of par 3s and par 4s is nice and the par 3s are challenging. All greens are above average in difficulty. The par 4s do have some demanding tee shots that require accuracy. All in all, not for a novice, but novice players play here and ruin the pace of play. It is a nice walking course too. The course is designed to play in less than 3.5 hours; anything longer in terms of time is too long.
