Augustine Golf Club
Played On 04/12/2022Early Season Conditions Poor
The course is hilly and relatively challenging, more so in early season conditions with sparse fairways and dormant brown Zoysia grass. Bunkers compacted and flooded, LOT of ground under repair. Rather disappointing from the Raspberry Farms folks.
Herndon Centennial Golf Course
Played On 05/22/2019Excellent Muni
Superb course conditions and maintenance, especially for a public muni. Nice layout with some challenging par 4s and a variety of tee boxes. I play this course often with mid-handicap golfing friend.
The Gauntlet Golf Club
Played On 05/14/2019Lots of Doglegs
Not as intimidating as its name suggests, this course is still challenging with sharp doglegs and hilly terrain, especially on the opening nine. Greens and fairways somewhat sparse and inconsistent.
Bristow Manor Golf Club
Played On 04/07/2019Why Complainers?
I do not understand why so many folks have given Bristow Manor bad reviews. The course is well-maintained, with true rolling greens, and is challenging without being Pete Dye evil. There's not great amenities, but the grass teed range and superb putting/chipping practice facilities make up for that — and this seasons the owners are renovating the classic clubhouse building to add an outdoor with grill and fireplace.
General's Ridge Golf Course
Played On 03/22/2019Challenging, Hilly Course
As a municipal course, General's Ridge suffers from the common limitations, such as uneven fairway turf, poorly maintained greens and hard bunker sand. But its extremely challenging layout — see the slope numbers — and long par 3s, many from severe uphill and downhill tees, make this a good test of your golf game. Driving accuracy is a must to score well.
Bull Run Golf Club
Played On 09/14/2018Forgiving & Varied Course
I was a "premier" member at this semi-private course for 3 seasons and love it. BRGC has a great of open holes without off-fairway trees, woodland holes and just a few forced water carries. Its mix of tee boxes and length allows players of vary different handicaps to play together easily. Conditions are typically excellent, although it does take more time to dry out after rains and suffers from fairway turf problems in the late summer. Staff is excellent and the restaurant is perfect. Also a romantic wedding location.
Thank you Glenn for your five star review!
We look forward to seeing you soon!
Painted Desert Golf Club
Played On 04/26/2017Nice for the money
Not nearly as pretty or technical as Desert Pines, but a nice, moderate course that is fun to play. Practice facilities lack short-game area, though.
1757 Golf Club
Played On 09/23/2015Great But Tough Course
Challenging course with water hazards and narrow fairway necks on many holes. Great conditions, typically, but slow play even during the week. Don't go right!
Algonkian Golf Course
Played On 08/17/2014Great Public Course
One of several by the Fairfax Parks department, Algonkian was in excellent shape this weekend, with hardly even a divot in the fairways and greens well-manicured. Only drawback is that the bunkers tend to be quite hard. Superb value for the money and a great course for intermediates.
Great! We're glad that our course conditions met your expectations and that you enjoyed the challenge of our layout. We appreciate your review and we look forward to having you back again soon for your next round!
