Have played BT for many years. The fairways and greens are in the best condition I’ve experienced.

Played On 01/14/2022Beautiful Course
Course is in great shape. Staff were friendly. About 4 1/2 hour playing time was ok but had to play the final 2 holes in the dark.. Bugs were bad late in the day. Recommend playing the course but get and early tee time and take bug spray.
Port Charlotte Golf Club
Played On 11/25/2019Misleading Name
I believe this course will be redeveloped and has been completely let go, It is likely in the poorest condition I've ever seen a golf course. Tee boxes are dirt and weeds (some are temporary and right beside the cart path). Greens are full of weeds and dead spots. Fairways have been completely let go and are also full of weeds and wet areas (likely from a leaking old sprinkler system). Two members of the staff ignored us at length while both helped the customer before us. Neither were friendly or welcoming. My biggest issue is that the name is very misleading. When booking on GN the course is listed as "The Links At Charlotte Harbor" which can easily be mistaken for "Charlotte Harbor National" (formerly Bobcat Trail). When the reservation confirmation arrives suddenly the course name becomes "Port Charlotte Golf Club". That's simply misleading. The name on the sign at the entrance to the course is "Port Charlotte Golf Club". There is no literature or signage that I could see, including the score card, naming the course "The Links At Charlotte Harbor". I would never have knowingly booked this course. I played it once last year and it was in poor condition. I had no desire to return. It has since further degenerated. At the very least GN should have systems in place to ensure the name of the course you are booking is the same name as the on one the reservation confirmation. Why would you allow 2 different names for the same course unless there is intent to mislead. When I asked GN to cancel I was informed it was a Hot Deal and could not be refunded. At $41 this certainly seemed like typical Hot Deal price for a quality 4 star course on GN. This course having a 3.5 star rating is beyond absurd.
Get the name right and be honest with your customers.
Misty Creek Country Club
Played On 03/21/2019Slow
Course has clearly had some investment. Conditions much improved versus recent years. Unfortunately the pace of play is absurd. It seems cramming in as many tee times as possible is the theme. After 4 hours we finished 14 holes and the pace had ground to about 20. minutes per hole. Not a ranger in site. Gave up and drove past 7 or 8 groups on the last three holes. Our round would have been close to 5 1/2 hours had we stayed. The other cash grab is the smallest bag of range balls I’ve ever seen for $5 which the guy in the pro shop was a bit too anxious to sell. This place is a ripoff.
The Highlands Golf Course
Played On 02/14/2019Decent Value
Like so many old Florida courses this one is a bit tired but the greens are decent and the layout has some unique holes. Staff is friendly and helpful. There always seems to be shortage of carts which can be problematic if you arrive early to use the practice facilities. If you’re looking for a lower cost option in peak season it’s a good choice.
Windermere Golf & Country Club
Played On 05/24/2018Beautiful Condition
Windermere somehow captures the feel of a cottage country course and a private country club. The course is in beautiful condition and is great value mid week. The par 4s are lengthy but the 5s can be birdied with good shot making. The design with tees and greens more accessible by cart allow for faster play. The course has a much more relaxing feel than some of the monster Muskoka courses. We will return.
White/Blue at Myakka Pines Golf Club
Played On 11/21/2017Tired Old Course
This is a tired old course with scruffy rough and greens patched with mismatched sod. The pro shop staff are cranky and rushed. The fact that GN rates this course as 4.5 while Heron Creek is rated 4 is ludicrous. It should be a 3 at best.
Sarasota National Golf Club
Played On 03/22/2017Great Course but Always Windy
SN is a great layout and in great condition. Certainly one of the best public courses in the area. No fault of theirs' but the course is constantly windy. It is by far the most consistently windy course I've played in SW Florida and I play a lot. Check out the flag in the GN picture. It is being blown stiff. For this reason alone I would never be a member. Once or twice a year is fine. Not sure if there is a cure - maybe once more homes are built or trees mature there will be more protection from the wind.
Thank you for your review, mpeirce. We will pass along your positive experience to our team at Heron Creek Golf and Country Club - Oaks/Marsh Course. We look forward to seeing you again soon.
