Omni Rancho Las Palmas Resort - North/South
Played On 11/06/2021it was okay
Pace of play was quite slow, no beverage cart. One of the nines on this site was being being over-seeded, so we had a busy day. I've played here before and it was fine, but right now, I can't recommend it except in a pinch
Guildford Golf and Country Club
Played On 03/30/2021A muddy, muddy mess
Didn't feel like golf out there at all, today. Mud everywhere; fairways in bad shape accordingly. Won't play it again until the summer, when course has enough time to dry out and heal.
Desert Dunes Golf Course
Played On 11/15/2019Don't play here now!
Greens and fairways in very poor condition for the most part. One hopes that this is because both are still healing from seeding. But made for a far too challenging day -- just too tough to hit off the fairways and line up putts. If you want to play in November, be sure to look for a low price or prepare to be even more disappointed.
Golf Club At Terra Lago - North Course
Played On 03/21/2019Not for beginners
This is a tough course made for low handicappers or those who play it all the time and so know and/or are able to manage the various rolls, slopes, bounces, fairways with minimum grass, and extremely fast greens (some of which weren't in great shape). All of us struggled to keep the ball from rolling off the fairways and to find workable speeds around and on the greens. Way above our pay grade and we aren't terrible golfers by any means! Cannot recommend it for anyone at my level (too difficult), but more experienced golfers will have a fine time.
Indian Canyons Golf Resort - South Course
Played On 03/10/2019More trouble on the way?
I love this course, but the tell-tale signs of "take the money" and run are starting to appear. I played it in November and the greens were in bad shape. I thought it might have been a seeding issue, but this time out they were also in terrible condition: barely any grass and pock-marked everywhere: All of us noticed and were not happy. In addition, one of the washrooms we stopped at looked like it had not been cleaned properly for months -- toilet and sink areas a mess -- and at the other, the door was broken. This facility has reached the + $100 rate for a round of golf. When I come to a top-charging course I expect excellent fairways, excellent greens, and excellent facilities. The managers can and should do better, and I won't be back until I know the improvements have been made.
Mountain Vista Golf Club - Santa Rosa Course
Played On 03/09/2019Fantastic golf experience
If you get the opportunity, be sure to play this course -- everything about it is wonderful! For my money, it continues to be one of the best courses in the Palm Springs area. You won't be sorry!
Westin Rancho Mirage Golf Resort & Spa - Pete Dye Resort Course
Played On 03/07/2019A tough course
I checked "extremely challenging" because "somewhat" didn't quite cut it. But overall, this is not an easy course: Lots of slopes/undulations to contend with in the fairways and around the greens, along with "gulleys" (large and small), lots of rough areas, and many fairways that were dry and didn't have a lot of grass. Greens not easy to hit and very fast, so if you can't "stick it like a pro" you're on and you're off! (into one of the gulleys). I'll be waiting until my game improves before I try this one again. Beginners and approaching intermediates, beware! I wouldn't recommend this course to anyone at my level, but low handicappers will certainly enjoy the challenge.
Cathedral Canyon Golf Club
Played On 03/06/2019Much better than last time!
They’ve been throwing some money at this course and it shows. Greens and fairways in way better condition than a year ago. Still work to do on things like bathrooms on the course, and the course still only gets “average” but the will to do better definitely seems there. Great value for a very enjoyable day.
Indian Canyons Golf Resort - South Course
Played On 11/22/2018Always a good experience
As usual, Indian Canyons South did not disappoint. The only downside was that some of the greens were not in great shape (still heeling from reseeding, we thought). We all agreed that when course is cart-path only due to reseeding and greens aren't 100% it would be good practice to consider reducing the standard green fee.
Legend at Tahquitz Creek Golf Resort
Played On 11/21/2018Another disappointing round
As always, starters and on course staff are great. but once again, course was overbooked, which led to a late start and 10- minute waits on every hole. Didn't finish the round. Fairways not in good shape; greens were okay. I booked this course because I didn't have a choice on this particular day. Given the ongoing problems with overbooking and poor conditions (this isn't the first time I've been sorry I booked here) I think I've finally learned my lesson and won't play here again.
Shadow Hills Golf Club
Played On 11/16/2018A really nice course
Always a good experience playing this course. Greens and fairways were in excellent condition, pace of play was good (cart path only, so a little slower than usual), and staff were superb. Only thing missing was a beverage cart.
Cimarron Golf Club - Boulder Course
Played On 11/13/2018Love this course!
Greens and fairways are always in great shape, views are terrific, and staff are always friendly and helpful.
Fort Langley Golf Course
Played On 05/01/2018Not for me
Great deal on GolfNow so thought I would try this course again. Then I hit the first hole and I remembered why I had only played it once! A brutal opening hole that required a long walk up a very steep hill -- and side hill, downhill, and uphill lies on the way. Brutal opening hole. Even the starter said it was about time to do something about the design. Hole #16 also was also a killer: a steep walk to start and a 45 degree climb at the end, to the green. I and my partner were exhausted. Overall, too many uphills and downhills, and too many small, elevated greens that were tough to hit, and nothing pretty or special to compensate. Too much work and too many challenges for an amateur like me (and I can hit the ball). Play this course if you're in good shape or willing to rent a cart!
Desert Falls Country Club
Played On 03/30/2018Not an easy course
This is a tough golf course that plays much longer than it looks because of the many uphills and valleys, which also makes for lots of uneven and challenging lies. Unless you're a low handicapper, be prepared to have a tough time making par on this course, which requires lots of play to learn the various angles, the best landing spots, etc. It was a bit too much for me to handle!
Oasis Country Club
Played On 03/24/2018Really nice par 3 and 4
I always enjoy a round at this pretty course, which features a nice level of challenge and is always well-maintained. Pace of play is also typically very good. A good workout for the irons, with a few driving holes thrown into the mix.
Mountain Vista Golf Club - San Gorgonio Course
Played On 03/23/2018It was okay
I thought I would try this sister course to Mountain Vista Santa Rosa, which I've played before and really like. San Gorgonio was fine, but cannot compare with Santa Rosa. Nothing really stood out, the greens were really tricky, and none of us were thrilled with so many par 3s -- I think four or five on the front 9 alone. It was also strange to not be able to get ice from the water dispenser at the start of the round because it is reserved "for residents only," and I really wished there would have been a beverage cart. I doubt I'll play this one again. Too many better choices out there.
Shadow Hills Golf Club
Played On 03/19/2018I love this course
Try to play it each time I come to PS. Always in wonderful condition, has just enough challenges to make it interesting but not too much for the average golfer to manager. As always, staff are superb. Would not hesitate to recommend this to others.
Shadow Mountain Golf Club
Played On 03/16/2018A deceptively tricky course
This is a short, old-school course that is more difficult than it looks. Narrow fairways that are often uphill; hazards, tress, and very fast greens that were difficult to read. If you have to putt downhill, better make sure it goes in the hole! Precision and choosing the right club are essential. The staff were great and treated us really well. I can't say I wouldn't recommend the course, but play it only at the right price (no more than $50) and only if you're ready for a challenge.
Palms at Marriott's Desert Springs Resort
Played On 01/17/2018Fabulous!
Have always wanted to play this course, so when GolfNow offered a great rate, I jumped on it. Wasn't disappointed. Everything was first class.
Legend at Tahquitz Creek Golf Resort
Played On 01/16/2018Worth a play
It's been a few years since I played this course, and it looks like the owners have made some improvements to the fairways and greens, which were in quite good shape. It was a fun outing, and I hope the focus on improvements continues.
Hi, Tennis223. We appreciate you taking the time to review the course and rate us. We understand your frustration with the overseed. Please bear with us as we work diligently to make improvements. We hope you'll give us another try in the future as we are now in better condition. Thanks for choosing Desert Dunes Golf Course.
