About
I am an avid golfer with about 55 rounds played this year and its only October! I hit my first Hole In One a few weeks ago. I have been playing for about 20 years but have gotten very serious about 8 years ago.

Diablo Grande Golf & Country Club
Played On 04/05/2018Too bad the staff made it miserable
The course is ok becasue of a few gimmicky holes. I might have given this course a better rating but the staff, i interacted with, were jerks. We paid to play but it felt like we were unwanted guests. The range is only like 200 yards off mats, so no woods allowed. The greens are slow. There is no cell service at the course and you don't pass the clubhouse at any point after 1, but there is nothing out on the course to purchase. A soda machine on 10 but it was empty and no cart selling drinks or snacks. Wouldn't have been so bad had we been given any info at all. After a 3 day buddies trip bad way to end it.
Merlot/Chardonnay at Poppy Ridge Golf Course
Played On 04/04/2018Great test
We played 27 holes and loved each of the nines. The course is a test for sure but there are holes that are also great for a par or maybe a birdie. Some really cool holes out there. Loved number 9 on Chardonnay and Zinfandel finished to a green near water. Lost a ball on one of them.
The Course at Wente Vineyards
Played On 04/03/2018Loved the course even though it is HARD
A great layout and amazing views. I really loved how the holes all seemed to challenge you to decide to go for it or play smart. Hole 10 gets you way up on a hill and you drive to a 285 yard green perched on another hill. It was so fun to play. I don't think walking is the way to go though. The hills would make that almost impossible.
Heron Creek Golf and Country Club - Oaks/Marsh Course
Played On 12/19/2017Nice course...not if you rent clubs
On a visit from California. The course is pretty nice. Most of the holes are pretty straight forward. There may be a few blind shots but all the fairways are fairly straight. I liked the par 3s because of the water in front of most of the greens. I saw a couple of live alligators which was cool. Played early so the greens were pretty slow until about 6 and then they got moderately fast. Greens have subtle breaks but they seem pretty large. Traps have wonderfully soft fluffy sand so that was new for me. I bought a sleeve of balls and felt they were a bit overpriced, but it is a pro shop so I guess that should be expected. Didn't eat so no idea how the food is. The rental clubs were a mixed review. The irons were nice (TM PSI) but the woods were pretty old and beat up (TM R11), but the issue was the putter, which was terrible, wasn't a brand I had ever heard off and it was probably 15-20 years old. The biggest problem was that I asked more than once for stiff shafts and was assured I would get them but all they gave me were regular shaft. It took a few holes to get used to that and did ok. For the price of rentals, I would expect more and maybe even a sleeve of balls, but nope and no towel. Otherwise it was a pretty ok place.

I have wanted to play this course for years, but never got a chance. I finally decided no matter what I am playing it this trip. It may be a little biased becasue I scored the best I ever have. The greens were in perfect shape, very challenging and fast. The entire course was green and perfect condition of all the grass. I played the tees that measured 6600 yards and that was perfect for me. The tips are more like 7000 but that is little long for me. With 108 bunkers even a perfect tee shot isn't a guarantee. I had one double bogey on my round and it was on the hole that I landed in a deep bunker. I only hit one bunker all day, but my playing partners hit a few and never got out in one shot. I could see many people saying the course was easy becasue if you stay on the fairway and miss bunkers it is. If you don't then it is a bear of a course. I absolutely loved the course. The people were great. Only two critical points it took almost 4 hours 40 minutes to play and the second carts aren't allowed in the parking lot. This is my new favorite course!

San Juan Oaks Golf Club
Played On 04/17/2017Great views and outstanding challenge
This course makes you hit every shot. You need to bomb drives and hit delicate little chips. The greens are fair but I was playing in a light rain so I imagine they are much faster when the sun comes out. It may be in the middle of nowhere but it is worth the drive. The staff was fine but when we arrived the power had just gone out and without a register they were completely lost. Outside of that it was a great day for golf!

This is a course I play often and when I do I usually score well. I love the layout and the course is laid out to my liking. Fairways are wide and greens are pretty big. It always it very nice shape fairways are level and usually pretty lush. The green seems to be pretty flat but have some very sneaky breaks close to the hole. I hate number 10! water on both sides of the fairway and for some reason I always end up there off the tee

Played On 10/08/2016Outstanding course!
I made a tee time at the last minute and man I could not be happier that I chose this course! What a great layout. The course is a great test. Starts out easy but the back 9 really is a challenge. I played 36 holes, rode both rounds, 2 sleeves of balls and rented clubs (which were great forged TM irons and R15 woods) all for $119! I think the only complaint I would have is that an overseed was just completed so I had a a few mud balls in the fairway and the greens were running a bit slow. But honestly that is nitpicky. Great course great people. Not a fan of the fake grass on the range and the restaurant was slow and over priced but the golf was excellent!
