Disappointing

Course has so much potential but has gone downhill since we last played 18 years ago.
1) No one met me at the bag drop until AFTER I took my bag out myself. Saw two guys chatting as I drove up but guess they had to finish their conversation before hustling over to help; 2) Golf shop staff member at the counter was indifferent. Acted like he had better things to do. I checked in and paid with credit card. He handed me three pieces of paper...one to sign but didn’t indicate what I needed to do with the others, like give one to starter or ? so had to ask. Also didn’t ask if I wanted practice balls or if they were included in green fee so had to ask; 3) Signage on course is poor. Did not see where to go to the first hole on the Palms Course so asked outside guy where to go and if starter called us to the tee or we just show up. Something I believe golf shop staff member should have mentioned too. Back to signage, many places where it was confusing which path to take to next hole; 4) Course conditions fair to poor. During January, when they should be very good were poor. Grass in fairways was thin and wet, rough not over seeded was like thin straw. Greens were thin and full of ball marks, and we played at 8:30 a.m.; 5) Birds, birds, birds everywhere and their poop everywhere as well. Hard to take a practice swing or putt without having to deal with goose, coot, or duck poop; 6) A couple positives: pace of play was good for early morning and views of Camelback Mtn. were awesome.

These courses have so much potential. Some TLC in the agronomy department and serious training in the personnel department would go along way.

Needs some attention

If you're in the fairway, you're ok. Bunkers are hard-pack sand and many areas where we would consider it to be 'rough' are bare and hard ground. Also, private citizens walking their dogs on the cartpath and kids fishing in one of the green-side ponds was a bit disconcerting. We've played here before and felt it was a fair value for the price but this last round left us feeling like we didn't want to return.
