Started right on time at 2:00 following another 4some. Pace of play was good. Several greens and a few fairways were certainly in need of some help. That did distract from the overall enjoyment of playing the Ranch on a day with just minimal wind. Overall, considering the cost, a pretty decent afternoon.

The greens absolutely have to be the worst in all of AZ. Honestly. Sand and rogue infestations of weed on every green. Tee boxes are nice and some fairways are also good, but they have lost the grass on some of them. Played on Super Bowl Sunday so the pace of play was very good. Due to the condition of the course, I will not return unless the green fees are greatly reduced.

The greens were so ridiculously fast and hard that it was impossible any greens. That and the pace of play (5 hours and 20 minutes) took all the joy out of that round. Especially after you consider the high fees.

We had a 1:50 tee time and since we had arrived a little early, the Pro Shop let us go right out which was a real treat. Once on the course we moved along beautifully as a 2some and we were able to complete the round in about 3 hours. The golf course was in magnificent shape while the greens held very nicely and putted with just the right amount of speed. We truly enjoyed our afternoon round at Grand Elk and eagerly await our return to Granby, CO next year.

We played one day after the greens had been plugged and top dressed with sand. the sand alone presented a big problem not to mention all the holes in the green. When you can't effectively putt, that removes a lot of the fun from the game. The pace of play was superb as there were very few golfers that day. Finally there are a few holes that are just too tight for the average golfer. The rates, however, are very fair!!

First time played. Nice layout, good pace of play. However, tee boxes had not been mowed and greens were like concrete. Many shots hit the green and simply bounced over. Rather frustrating.

Other than the bumpy greens which had been plugged recently, the course is in exceptional shape. The fairways and tee boxes were excellent and the greens held beautifully. Plenty of drinking water on the course as well. Summer time rates, however, are not at all a bargain.

Older reviews had lamented how far downhill this course had gone. Well, I can definitely state that it is certainly on its way back uphill. The condition of the course and the greens were both superb. And don't forget about the views. The views are the best of any course that I have played in the Tucson area. The only negative that we encountered was the pace of play. We played behind a Wed. men's league and they were slow, very slow. Avoid this Wed. group and you will be in for a treat.

As the course just reopened we were expecting a little more than we had. The problem was that they chose not to cut the greens after letting them grow to lengths that nearly matched the fairways. Therefore, it was impossible to putt. Not even close to being able to putt. As a result it was a huge letdown. We should have been told that the greens were in that condition. A total waste of money!!

Having a 9:20 tee time, we got off exactly on time and finished in 3.75 hrs. playing as a foursome and following a foursome. Conditions of tee boxes, fairways and greens were all perfect. With no roll in the fairways, some holes were quite difficult especially with very little room around some greens. Aside from several penalty strokes, it was a most enjoyable round especially in light of the bargain price found on GolfNow.

2:07 tee time. The front moved along really well, but the back was much slower. My only complaint is that the grass is cut so short that the ball easily runs off the fairway and into desert or washes. The greens and fairways, however, were top notch. With the afternoon pricing it is an excellent value.

I had a 1:00 tee time but they moved me up to 12:50 because a group did not show and a single was left for that time slot. So we went as a twosome and, of course, waited on every shot as we were following a foursome. So we did not finish until 5:30 just before dark.
The course, however, is beautiful and is in perfect shape except for a little bumpiness on the greens. The yellow tee box should provide an ample challenge to most golfers as it plays 6300+ yards. With fairway bunkers on every hole and a number of elevated greens, it is a very fair but difficult round of golf for anyone. The greens putt very nicely but do not hold particularly well. Some of the holes on the Tortolita nine are spectacularly beautiful as they are set right against the mountain.
It is a beautiful golf course, but is any golf course truly worth that kind of money. You decide.

11:45 tee time using Golfnow, so we got a good value. Had we paid more, I would have been less pleased because the greens were very difficult to putt. They were not cut and were terribly slow. Most of the greens held OK, but forget about making a birdie or par saving putt. It is not going to happen. Otherwise, the tee boxes and most of the fairways were in pretty good shape. Playing around noontime, the pace of play was quite good.

Having read that this is a Troon managed course, I was expecting a well groomed golf course and I certainly was not disappointed. From the tee box to the green, everything was perfect. The greens are by far the best that I have played in southern AZ. My wife and I went out at 11:30 with no one in front of us and finished the round in 31/4 hrs without rushing. Th course does play very long and is much more difficult than the yardage would suggest. The deep fairway and green side bunkers are also very challenging. The fairways are very wide and forgiving, but you must avoid the bunkers. Great course for the money.

We played on a Wed. morning at 11:30 with a good prepaid rate from Golfnow. Fortunately, we did not have anyone in front of us as we tend to play an aggressive golf ready. Conditions, of course, varied aroung the course as some fairways were much more burned than others. However, the bunkers posed the most serious obstacle as they were very wet just under the surface resulting in very inconsistent results. Tee boxes were very nice but the grass was quite long and not a real problem. At over 6,200 yards from the white tee boxes and not much roll in the fairways, it is quite a challenge.

With a 1:04 tee time and only two groups of 3 in front of us, it took over 41/2 hrs. to complete the round on a very warm June afternoon. Despite the nice views, it is difficult to enjoy a round of golf when you have to wait on every shot and of course there was no ranger on the course. As much as we liked the course, we will probably not return.6/22/2013

The front nine holes are all very flat and open to the wind. The back nine is a bit more challenging in that there are a few environmental areas to deal with. Overall, it is a fairly easy, but windy course that is worth playing only if you can get a cheap afternoon rate on GolfNow.
