Yarrow Golf Course
Played On 09/03/2015This Amazing Course is Closing
Yarrow is by far the best course near Kalamazoo. It has a northern Michigan feel with tall lodge-pole pines and natural elevation changes. The greens, tees and fairways are all perfectly manicured. Sadly, it will not be there next year. They sold the property and it will become a drug and alcohol rehab center. They plan to let this gorgeous track grow over. Te news made me sick. I may start drinking heavily so that I can sneak on and mow it!
Crossings Golf Club
Played On 08/24/2015Aeration Alert
I like the layout. The upkeep is average but there is a nice mix of holes. I found one thing very odd, they had recently aerated the greens and to make up for the difficult putting surface they had installed 6 inch holes! I have never seen or heard of that before. it didn't help us; we still missed our birdie putts like always;)
Hobbs Hole Golf Course
Played On 08/22/2015Fun Layout
We liked the course. It was a bit dry ( it's August) but in overall good condition. Don't expect it to be "manicured" but the terrain makes up for that. A few greens had a bare spot or two but nothing that influenced roll too much. We enjoyed it on a perfect Virginia Day.
The Club At Viniterra

This course is beautiful, and perfectly maintained. We were greeted kindly and felt welcome. It's an interesting layout with elevation changes and lots of large bunkers. It's a must play!
Eagle Trace Golf Course
Played On 08/19/2015Nice Layout
I liked the layout and the greens were true. Teeing ground and rough were a bit untidy. The rough was high and uneven so we lost some balls. The fairways were ok, not great but playable for sure.
Midland Golf Club
Played On 08/10/2014Nice Layout
Good fair greens and overall conditions were much better than I expected for a course in a remote local. The layout was interesting with several doglegs and rolling hills.
Lucas Oil Golf Course
Played On 04/23/2014Never Again!
Dr. Hurdzan (the architect) needs to pay them to get his name off it! I'm sure his original design had promise, but it's barely playable now. Ruts everywhere, weeds galore. I could go on and on but why? Just stay away; even free golf there would be a ripoff. To be fair I will say this: they are renovating the clubhouse and improving the cart paths and there was evidence of reworking the traps. Personally, I would have started with the tee boxes, fairways, greens and rough. Oh well, it's their money.
Plum Tree National Golf Club
Played On 09/09/2013Traditional layout, well maintained
This course has a great layout with a traditional feel. I play from the forward red tees and it played as long (5710) or longer than many courses do from white tees. There are large bunkers everywhere and some water. The bent grass fairways are perfect and the rough thick. Hit 'em straight!
Nettle Creek
Played On 09/06/2013Beautifully maintained fun course
Nettle Creek has a nice layout and is well maintained. It's a typical prairee course with few trees and rolling terrain.
Dwight Country Club
Played On 08/23/2013Traditional layout with smallish greens
The fairways are in good condition. There is very little sand and the greens are relativly easy. Water comes into play on a few holes. Not a great test but it was fun to play with plenty of birdie opportunities, none of which we converted.
Harbor Shores
Played On 08/16/2013Pristine, but too tricked up for the average player
The fairways, greens and tees are in perfect playing condition. The bunkering adds to the views, they are deep, large and abundant. The greens are huge and undulating to the extreme. When lucky enough to hold one, good luck from there! Now, about the views...I expected Lake Michigan to be the focal point. I actually saw it once. You cross several busy roads over the 18 holes and traffic noises and construction noises are not what I expect to encounter on a course of this caliper. There are views of delapadated factories, industry, and the surrounding area/neighborhood is getto. I thought HS would compare to Bay Harbor GC near Petosky, but it fell way short. I think it's overpriced, but if using your Golfnow Rewards this may be a good choice, just don't expect pure golf serenity.
White Hawk Country Club - Red Hawk Nine
Played On 08/02/2013I love the wide inviting fairways.
There are four nines at White Hawk. We played Red to Black. Red is fairly flat while Black has more rolling hills. Both have plenty of big bunkers. Most greens are well protected and are large and multi-level. My only complaint is that we followed a fivesome on the back nine. We were just a twosome and they never offered to put us through. However, even that was forgivable because a member of that group aced #6 and we got to hear them celebrate. It was fun.
WeaverRidge Golf Club
Played On 07/23/2013A must play!
This course is beautiful and very well maintained. There are interesting elevations and the overall layout is fantastic. The greens are big and they run true. I was surprised to find this high quality course in this part of IL. It's a gem.
Stonebridge Golf Club
Played On 07/22/2013Poorly maintained.
This course has a decent enough layout but the tees, greens and fairways are in poor condition. The grass is spotty, and the rough is more weeds than grass. The greens had major issues. I really like the design of the holes but it was sad to see such potential wasted. We paid just $10 each for the Hot Tee deal. I guess you get what you pay for;)
Fairways Public Golf Course
Played On 07/07/2013It's short, flat and probably not a regulation course.
This course disappointed us. The fairways are narrow, the greens are small and there are no elevation changes or water hazards. The back nine is a par 30! There are 6 par 3s and 3 par 4s. It would be a good course for children or anyone just learning the game but it's not for real golfers. We will never play it again.
I disagree with Lizgolfs review. The course is hardly easy with the tightness of the fairways. Sure, the back 9 is different and not as interesting as the front. But remember it is what you shoot in relation to par which makes a course difficult or easy. I have been playing for 43 years and consider myself a real golfer. Well maintained course and fun to play.
Very scenic
The course is off the beaten path but worth the drive. The views and elevations are amazing. The greens are big and difficult. The clubhouse is actually a trailer but its nicely decorated and the staff is friendly and we felt welcome. We will definitely play it again.
Senica's Oak Ridge Golf Club
Played On 07/05/2013Nice track
We enjoyed the course it has an interesting layout.
Railside Golf Club
Played On 06/30/2013Nice layout.
It's in farming country so it's relatively flat and very playable from the forward tees which is nice for seniors and other short hitters.
Thank you for playing Yarrow! We are glad that you enjoyed the course. Come back and see us again soon!
