Starfire Golf Club - The King Course
Played On 11/06/2020Career Round
My wife and I usually play the expensive courses in Scottsdale but got a HotDeal at Starfire so gave it a try. We found it to be quite enjoyable. The course layout was interesting, with quite a bit of water coming into play. The fairways were in great shape from sufficient watering, but while the greens putted quite true, they were very slow. The pace of play was a little slow, but I did not mind since I was on my way to a career round of 67. Yes, it is quite easy to go low on this course.

My wife and each paid $64 on a GolfNow Hot Deal. We thought this course was a good value for that amount, but would not be worth the $100+ normal greens fees. Nice course, but nothing extraordinary.

After playing mostly desert courses in the area it was different playing a parkland type course. The fairways were quite nice, but if you missed the fairway you were usually hitting off of dirt in the rough. I guess it is similar to hitting off the desert if you miss the fairway on a desert course. The greens were pretty nice - just a touch slower than what I am used to. All in all it was a good experience.

My wife and I played on a cool day just after the rain ended. We were extremely happy with the course conditions - fairways were nice the greens putted very nicely. After playing through 2 slow threesomes, we completed our round in less than 3 hours. All in all it was a very good experience.

Overall the course was fine, but the few times I did hit it in a bunker it was like trying to hit off of concrete. The greens crew was putting more sand in some bunkers so this must have been a common complaint.
