Westin Rancho Mirage Golf Resort & Spa - Pete Dye Resort Course
Played On 09/10/2014Pure Fun
This is a really fun layout with a great variety of holes. Probably easier than the typical Pete Dye layout. The greens are the biggest challenge. Pay attention to the pin positions! Approach shots will make or break your day. Course maintenance is impeccable. Kudos to the greens/ground crew. Fairways and greens are as good as it gets. Sand could be a little bit better but the traps I did experience were very consistent.
Indian Canyons Golf Resort - North Course
Played On 07/08/2014Go for the History
Pretty straightforward golf course typical of it's era and the facility shows it's age. Course condition was just ok as they have stopped watering the rough. I have no problem with that but it would be nice to restore those areas to natural terrain instead of dead grass. No real penalty for missing fairways. Greens were in good shape and were a highlight. Difficult to read. They were rebuilding many of the course bunkers which was good to see. For the price it was a nice easy round of golf and it was fun to take in the history of this place. If you go take some time to walk around the clubhouse and take it in. Note: no driving range on the North course. Go early If you must hit balls before you play. You'll have to go to the South course.

Continues to the be one of the best courses in the desert. Had to play the front nine twice as the back is closed for renovation. It was priced accordingly. With all of the tees to choose from it was no problem making it a completely different course 2nd time through. Not much else to say. This is simply some of the best golf to be found in the desert.
