Wigwam Resort - Gold Course
Played On 12/15/2017Long drive
Since my grandson encouraged me to play from the blue tees I had to hit long drives. That didn’t work out so well. Also the Wigwam is a long drive from where I live , so it was a long drive out and back. Beautiful destination resort course. Worth the trip.
Starfire Golf Club - The King Course
Played On 08/27/2014A blend
This course is a blend of old and new, tight fairways and wide. shade and sun. With 27 holes on property, if you play the King and Squire nines(which we did) you get it all. The Squire is part of the original 18, is practically as old as Scottsdale, boasts a lot of shade and is now surrounded by homes and town homes. Fairways and greens were beautiful. Be careful about using driver on the tee shots.
The King course is newer with the design influence of Arnold Palmer. It is more wide open, but a duffer like me can still miss those fairways. Plenty of opportunity for recovery shots on every hole. It was built with a residential development and there can be a long walk between some of the holes. Take a cart.
Cart lady came around several times during our round, plus there is water along the route. Important concerns in the 104 degree Arizona heat. If you can handle the heat you can get a great rate. I recommend the course.
Desert Canyon Golf Club
Played On 8/26/2012Good full length course. Variety of elevations and great views.
The course lays out well for middle handicappers. The sand traps need alot more sand. They play more like cement. But the rest of the course was fine. Plenty of risk/reward for the low handicap players. Overall I like the course and the club house facilities are very nice.
