Legend Trail Golf Club
Played On 02/21/2017Not for the faint of heart/game
Legend Trail is a great track-if you've "got game." It's a typical "Jones" course with multiple elevated tee boxes, overly-undulating fairways, greens fronted by every imaginable hazard, and trouble everywhere. Don't play it on a day when your game is suffering or you don't feel well because you will not enjoy it. I hadn't played it in years until yesterday, and I now recall why. It's brutal. You have to have length for forced carries, accuracy to hit greens, and concentration to keep it in play. I don't think I had a flat lie all day. The scenery is beautiful, the routing is imaginative, and it's very challenging, but number 11 is one of the hardest holes you'll ever play. GOOD LUCK!

I call Silverado my "too course." It's not too long, it's not too hard, and it's not too expensive.
Palms at Marriott's Desert Springs Resort

If you like to play out of trouble all day, this is your course. Elevated, fast, over-bunkered greens on nearly every hole, uneven lies, and diabolically-placed wate hazards make scoring par almost impossible for the average golfer. Casual golfers stay away from this devil. You'll be lucky to break a hundred. But if you come for the beautiful mountain vistas, have at it. But don't expect to write down may pars. And birdie? Forget it. It's sister course, the Palm is even tougher. Play elsewhere for the money. Also accused us of slow play when we were waiting on the foursome in front of us on every shot.
