Oaks Golf Course at Christmas Mountain Village
Played On 07/22/2018Hole 10 is up on the Mountain
We had a fun time golfing yesterday. The course was pretty decent with the exception of several greens. The beverage cart however needs to be addressed. The cart is evidently too messed up to climb the hill to tee box 10...she wasn't able to come out and sell us drinks for pretty much the whole back nine.
Wolf at Las Vegas Paiute Golf Resort
Played On 02/25/2017Fun Times
From the first tee at "The Wolf" course to the last 18th par 4 hole, this course was a blast to play. The weather last Saturday was cold, but the wind made it feel much colder. We weren't prepared for the poor forecast, (weather guy had things flipped between Sat & Sun), so that made the enjoyment level drop off a bit.
All in all, we were matched up with 2 strangers, but by the end of the round, we were all friends. The course design was challenging, having to hit straight & far off the tee box is a must. Rough terrain and some of the longest, fairway hugging sand traps I've ever seen were present on many of the holes.
The course was in great shape for this time of year. Fairways could have been a little softer, but the greens were smooth & nice, plenty of undulating read challenges.
Looking forward to playing again next year!
Decatur Lake Golf Course
Played On 04/16/2016First time out 2016
I used to live in Brodhead, so we've played Decatur Lake quite a bit. The course was in very nice condition. We only counted 2 ball washers however, guessing they've had cold nights?
I'd say the course is fairly easy but watch out on hole 2. A tee shot drifting leftward will put you in the wooded rough. Alot of branches & leaves on the ground makes finding the ball difficult, not to mention having to burn a stroke chipping out of there!
Bridges Golf Course
Played On 03/15/2015First Time Out for 2015
It was great swinging the clubs, of course. But the ground was literally oozing water and mud...to be expected as the ground is thawing out. Not having any ball washers out was a bummer...greens were pretty slow but I know things will improve as the sun starts warming things up!
All of the airplanes flying overhead (next to an airport), brought to mind visions of Harrison Ford crash landing...maybe that's why I kept picking up my head?
Coachman's Golf Resort - Red/White
Played On 07/13/2014Something's wrong
Coachman's Golf Resort is a beautiful place to shoot golf, however it is a terrible place to play golf on weekends....how can that be?
Well, for the 4th straight time now, we have encountered groups of 6 and even 8 at times, out there hootin & hollerin, dragging their spikes across the greens, spitting out red gooey candy or gum, or something...the biggest problem is that when a two some (my wife & I ) get stuck behind one of these groups, we pretty much lose heart & leave. I complained to the starter, and he said "that's the way it is out here on weekends"...Golf is supposed to be a gentleman's game, but weekends at Coachman's, it's more like a drunken free for all...
Riverside Golf Course
Played On 10/21/2012What a gem of a course
It was a perfect day for Golf. Not a cloud in the sky, bright sunshine & a little bit of a breeze. Each tee box presented a beautiful view of the fairway, filling my heart with sweet anticipation of sending that flourescent green Titleist, sailing through the beautiful sky, watching it bounce and roll up down the center of the perfectly manicured fairway. After approaching the ball for the second shot, I lifted it skyward again with the King Cobra sand-lob wedge, the ball delicately landing on the green with a slight roll toward the pin...putting on the green was a pure pleasure. Yes, the greens have been aerated for the upcoming stretch of cold weather, but they were fabulous in their smoothness & speed. Leaves & dying vegetation were a slight distraction, but what else do you expect in late October? Hole after hole, each one a challenging delight...great golf memories were made yesterday at Riverside Golf Course. A splendid resource!!
