Oak Hills Golf Course
Played On 05/22/2023Deplorable Conditions
The condition of this course is deplorable. All the tee boxes are either “temporary” or trashed with growing grass in short supply. Most of the fairways have large areas of death with some limited patches of grass that is alive. Only the fairway for your 3rd shot on the 18th hole had grass that was reminiscent of a decent muni fairway. It is lift, clean, and place all day long just to have a remotely fair (forget decent) lie to play from. The greens are fairly lush ( no big areas of death) but cut way too long and are therefore way too slow. A hockey slapstick shot is required for long or uphill putts. Where is the fun or challenge in that? The course is in need of so much TLC I didn’t think the $34 (including taxes and fees) was a “Hot Deal” at all. Maybe $20 - $25 would be worth it because there was nobody there on the Monday I played but only if there were no better alternatives in the Nashville area to be had. Conditions should be better to make the drive from Nashville worth it. BTW, I actually posted one of better scores in quite awhile but still barely enjoyed the day because the course was in such bad shape. I don’t expect country club conditions for $34 but this place barely qualifies for goat ranch status.
Twelve Stones Golf Club
Played On 03/16/2023Better than I expected.
Greens had just been aerated but weren’t bad at all. Another couple of weeks they will be really good. The layout is challenging but fair with a nice mix of water, OB, bunkers (the sand was excellent), dog legs, and elevation changes etc…. to keep it interesting. The par 4 14th hole is a little strange since it is literally straight up a steep hill/mountain from tee to green. Fairways were dormant but didn’t seem any worse than other courses this time of year. Just hit the ball first. I look forward to playing the course again.
The Legacy
Played On 03/07/2023Challenging greens and layout.
Played on a Hot Deal of $40.00 per player including all fees and taxes. Course was recovering from a big wind and rain storm a few days prior so lots of downed trees etc... being cleaned up. Dormant fairways were in good shape. Greens were smooth, fast, and very challenging with a lot of slope/undulation in all of them. The layout has a lot of character and is challenging as well. Good course that I look forward to playing again.

Old Brickyard Golf Course
Played On 07/27/2014Interesting layout
This course was a little rough around the edges, had some really interesting and challenging holes and others that seemed a little short and straight forward. Elevations changes up and down were a big part of the course. Course knowledge is a must since there are some blind tee shots and safe places to lay-up on approach shots if you know they are there. #9 is the blindest tee shot I have ever seen and there are a couple of huge elephants buried under the green. #10 seemed impossible from the tee box and didn't get much better from the fairway. The greens are getting better. The Front 9 are still lumpy and bumpy but not sandy anymore. The Back 9 roll pretty smooth but are a little on the slow side. Overall good experience and a steal at the GN Hot Deal Price.
The Bridges Golf Club
Played On 07/16/2014Links style layout w/ recently aerated greens
The course would have been great but the greens had been aerated recently and were still struggling with sand and open punch holes that made putting a real bummer even for the GN Hot Deal price. The grass hoppers are also a little creepy but not too bad except for a few holes. I sprayed it around a little too much to fully enjoy the course but if the greens were good it still would have been a great day. I would play it again but would call to verify the condition of the greens before making the drive. I honestly wish I would have driven another 15-20 minutes north to Tanglewood where the course is older but well maintained, the layout more traditional, and the greens were smooth and true just two days before I played here. If you are going to make a long drive (from Dallas) to play like I did, make the drive to Tanglewood until The Bridges greens get back to normal. If you do go to The Bridges, play #18 as 3-shot Par 5 unless you can bomb it off the tee. From the Blues the carry over the lake has to be 240+ yds into the wind. Hit a 210-yd shot at the bridge to "layup" off the tee.
The Courses at Watters Creek - Player's Course
Played On 07/15/2014Great little executive 9-hole course
I play the 9-hole Players Course quite frequently. 6 par 3s and 3 par fours in the 250 - 350 yard range. great course for beginners but is well maintained and is fun for anyone who wants to work on something other than how far they can hit it. Playing it twice (18-holes) takes about 3-hours walking. walking is doable since tees and greens are relatively close. Definitely with the price.
Lakes at Indian Creek Golf Course
Played On 07/14/2014Lumpy bumby fairways and sanded greens
Played this course for the first time in 20-yrs. the greens had been punched and sanded recently which was a drag but the fairways were so lumpy and bumpy you could barely drive the cart without getting a bruised kidney. 90 degree rule wasn't mandatory but was required just to survive the day. The greens will get better but those fairways won't. It's time to cover the whole course in a about a foot of sand to fill-in all the low spots. The course has seen better days in general. Pro shop gave an additional discount from the GN price and other coupons but that wasn't compensation enough. Just brutal.
Tanglewood Resort Hotel and Conference Center
Played On 07/13/2014Worth The Trip
The facilities are nothing fancy and it's a drive from Dallas but it's worth the trip. Loved the course. Elevation changes, good grass on the fairways, challenging but very fair layout with a lot of variety, sand, water, trees, scenic views, and above all perfect greens that are smooth, roll true, and are just the right speed to make it a lot of fun. #18 is a beauty that makes you strategize your way through the hole to win those final bets of the day. What's not to love?If this course were closer to Dallas I wouldn't play anywhere else. At a GN Hot Deal price on GN this course is unbeatable.
is unbeatable. I highly recommend it.
