Course Just OK, Pace Horrible

The course was okay nothing memorable. Condition was rough in some areas but it was at the end of summer. The one big draw back was that there was no marshall on the course for pace of play. Played the front nine in 2:15 then a foursome(4 guys playing out of 3 bags) jumped in front of us on the back and we took 3 hours. The foursome was holding up our group and three others and would not let anyone play through. Talked with the pro shop staff when finished and was told that those guys were regulars and they "kinda do this a lot".

One of Nicklaus' Best!!

Nicklaus Tournament course is always a fun time in the desert. Has some of the typical desert elements, humps and bumps, bunkers and water, but in a softer more playable way. Fairways are wide but rough is deep. Holes are diverse enough to make them each distinguishable.

Pete Dye at his Best!!!

Everyone should play this course once to experience something different in golf course design. It would not be my everyday course, too much luck involved. People say that the course has too many gimmicks but it is what it is, one of a kind. One of the best description of the course is that it looked like it was designed by Dr. Suess. Play the Stadium, have fun and don't get upset with how the design effects your play.

Classic Club, Classic Arnie!!

Very playable ,well designed Palmer course with water hazards everywhere. Had a variety of shots, up and down hill. Outside staff was great as was the value we received for our greens fee. Definitely will return.

Too Many Players on the Course

Having played Franklin Canyon years ago and having good memories, I thought it would be nice to play there again. Made a 12:30 tee time for 2 on a Friday. Arrived at the course 40 minutes early to warm up. Shop staff was friendly checking us in and said they were 20 minutes behind on the tee, understandable. Warmed up, checked in with the started at 12:30, our tee time, and was told that there were 5 groups ahead of us. We finally teed off at 1:15, 45 minutes late. Played the first hole, arrived at the second tee to see we were the third group on the second tee. That was the way on all tees. We finished the front nine at 4:30, over three hours to play nine holes. We had to quit because it was almost dark. We did get a sixty day credit for half our green fee, don't know if we will return though.

The condition of the course was deplorable considering how the course use to play. It is a shame that the course is collecting these greens fees and not running the place correctly.
