Corte Bella Golf Club
Played On 12/09/2017Too fast of greens
I have thoroughly enjoyed this course for several years, After a difficult summer of maintenance the course came back with a vengeance and was in fantastic condition. However, yesterday they course was not score able and far too difficult for seniors or any a amateur for that matter simply because the greens were cut ridiculously fast. Too fast to enjoy. One putt was a typical example,,, I putted slightly uphill with just a gentle tap and it ran up and past the hole about 2 ft then rolled to the right and down the green to about 23 feet from the pin. No one can putt these greens unless each were fortunate to go into the hole. Another 8 ft putt came up about 18 inches short then rolled back past me about 12 ft. They must have been 12 to 14 on the stint. I cannot enjoy this course as long as the greens are this difficult to enjoy. This is a senior development and seniors should be able to enjoy a round not be punished for hitting a good shot. Few greens held an approach, hitting in the front portion then running off the back several feet. I am hopeful they will return this beautiful course back to the playing conditions it has been for several seasons. The new greens keeper must like to punish golfers rather than reward them for a good shot. I am a senior, 80 yrs of age, and generally shoot between 76 and 82 but yesterday I quit keeping score losing a stroke on every green. they also need to take the rocks out of the bunkers. I want to enjoy this course again when they correct these factors.
North Golf Course at Sun City
Played On 11/27/2017Course is in good condition, greens may be a little slow but were green and rolled resonably as expected.
I am nearly 80 yrs of age and shot a 76 albeit mostly from the senior tees. So, the course is not extremely difficult but has fairway and green bunkers that have good sand. I play there often during the winter. Course is not in good shape most summers.

:Love playing at Corte Bella. Staff is super nice and helpful. Course got a little weather damage this summer for the first time in years but I am absolutely amazed at how beautiful the course is now. Terrific fairways and greens.

Played On 10/05/2017Decent course for the money
Fairways are in pretty good condition, greens in real good condition, moderate speed. Clubhouse is not the friendliest but OK as you do not play in the clubhouse. Flat course with adequate bunkers. I'm 79 and did not start out putting well with a par on the first then 8 consecutive boggies, the shot 39 on the back nine. Usually shoot a little above or below 80. Course seems to improve during the winter but can be slow play then as well.

Coming back from some summer fairway issues and I love playing this course and do so often. Wide forgiving fairways, fairly fast greens, lots of bunkers fairly positioned, some water. Staff are super, bar and grill excellent. It is my favorite go to course all summer. Rates go up for winter in a month or so. Fairly chllenging despite the wide fairways. Only negative is that the bunkers have stones in them. I wish they would sift the sand and make the traps more fair but try to overlook that one negative as I love playing the course so much.
Sun City South Golf Course
Played On 04/18/2016Not to much for care
Little grass in the fairway, mostly hitting of what would almost be considered hardpan. Greens did not bite. Sand traps are many and guard the greens well and did have sand in them. Not much business made for a quick round.

Played On 02/17/2016Surprising Good Condition
Last minute find on GolfNow for $18. Did not expect much as I had never played this course before. Was pleasantly surprised to find very well maintained fairways with green grass, and excellent greens. Do not understand other's comment on 'green's not holding'. I hit long to wedge iron and fairway woods onto the green and they held very well. Putting was great (I like slower greens and these find my liking). Despite burying a shot to the green into a green side bunker and taking a triple, I shot 40 on the first nine and was two over on the back nine. I'm 78 yrs young so it was a pretty good round for me. Would play it again and have already recommended it to others. Played round with one ball.

Played On 09/29/2015Nice Course
Only two days after reopening following seeding so greens were a little slow, but the course was in great shape. Good challenging course. Sand in bunkers which is not often the case out here. Requires carry off the tee and accurate tee shots on some holes.

I'm 77 yrs of age and usually shoot or beat my age each year (have for last 4 years). Have not yet done so on this course but believe I can. Has tee options for every skill level. Forgiving fairways and a nice layout with plenty of traps (I know cause I got into 4 of them last round) but there is sand in them unlike many of the Phoenix valley courses. It's my kind of layout and more like the courses I played in the midwest.
Hillcrest Golf Club at Sun City West
Played On 07/27/2015Very poorly maintained
As I told them in the clubhouse... This is the worst conditioned course I have ever played. I said two years ago I would not play it again until they started maintaining it. Now it is worse. I will not be back. They soaked the fairways and tee boxes, then drove their big mowers right through it all leaving huge ruts and mud in the middle of the fairways, cut the grass down to dirt just in front of the greens. The super must be an idiot or else no one really gives a darn about what they do. Pitifully bad. I understand this used to be a great course. What a shame.
Villa de Paz Golf Course
Played On 12/29/2014Winter prices good deal for the money
Had sand in the traps which was good to see, some bare spots in the fair way and a lot of them off the fairway but playable. Greens very short and spotty but playable. I'm nearly 77 years of age and have shot 78 and 79 last couple of rounds on this course and would not have been able to so do if it wasn't playable. Will play it again during the winter months.
Dove Valley Ranch Golf Club
Played On 05/26/2014Already slipping away this early in the year
Hard to understand how a course like Tatum Ranch can be green on the fairway and greens all through the hot summer and Dove Vally (about the same elevation) goes to pot by early June. Already losing the greens and patches of the fairway. Never have thought much of the 4 dogleg holes on the back nine. Poorly designed from my viewpoint, but it is the closest course around and has a good practice range.
Riverview Golf Course
Played On 05/01/2014Greens hard, traps hard and not raked
Grass is already starting to die off. If it doesn't start getting more water it will not be playable in another month or so. Hate the greens and the traps. Very sloped and hard and fast downhill. Cannot judge chip and approach shots as the can hit well and roll clear off the green. Need better greens and modify the contours so good amateurs can enjoy them. Traps are not raked and hard pan just under surface. A normal sand shot can turn into a disaster with traps like these.s Need real sand and care. Could be a nice course with some modifications and care.
Arizona Traditions Golf Club
Played On 03/16/2014Very, very slow greens
Fairways well grassed. Short course (par70). I prefer moderately slow greens but these were rediculously slow. Played on Sunday. Was down in the back and couldn't follow through but shot an 81 and I'm 76 yrs young. If they mowed the greens shorter to make them roll more reasonably, I would enjoy playing there often. And some bunkers could use some sand. I didn't hit any buy my playing partners did and sculled several shots because there was no depth to the sand.
Hillcrest Golf Club at Sun City West
Played On 01/01/2014OK course
Understand this used to be a great course in great condition. Not so much anymore, Now an oK course for under $30 max, but not well maintained. Some sand traps had little or no sand underneath the thin cover layer, then hard pan below, Seldom raked. Don't mind playing it when nothing else available this time of year when prices are out of reach of most of us.
TPC Scottsdale - The Stadium Course
Played On 11/06/2013Beautiful condition, wide open, rather slow greens but great shape
Loved playing the course. Wasn't in my best form on the first nine (I'm 75 now and takes a little longer to get loose), but I played pretty well on the second nine. Even put my iron on the famed stadium 16th par 3 within 24" of the pin and made my birdie. I see why the pros tear this course up with low scores, but they are going to completely redo the course before the next tourney in Feb with new greens, relocate the hazards so they come into play for the pros as they now just drive way over and beyond them. Will be interesting to see how it plays when rework is completed. Great place.

Played On 10/21/2013Enjoy playing this course when fairways are green
Reasonably challenging course. Took too many chances on front nine but shot 39 on the back nine. Greens were sandy and very, very slow. Took a while to get used to putting that firmly to get to the hole, but after the first nine finally got the feel of it. Bunkers had sand in them which many courses do not. Like playing the Legends
Tatum Ranch Golf Club
Played On 09/01/2013Love this course
Had never played it before and I loved it. Excellent condition. Playing off a carpet of grass in Phoenix area is a special treat these hot summer days. Will play it again tomorrow and up until Snowbird rates make it prohibitive until Spring rolls around again.
Greens were fast but smooth, fairways lush but cut. Sand traps had sand in them, which again is hard to find in Phoenix.
Can't give it enough praise.

Most pristine golf course i've played in a long time. Excellent condition. No bare spots, fast greens. Just beautiful.
Championship at Moon Valley Country Club
Played On 08/22/2013Decent course
Although there are a lot of areas without grass, there are very few bare spots in the fairways or greens. Enjoyed playing the course, albeit i did not play well yesterday. Would play it differently next time, concentrating more on position than distance which is very lmportant on several holes. Greens are faster than I personally prefer and my putting cost me many strokes.
