San Juan Hills Golf Club
Played On 7/29/2013A very hilly course. Tough to walk it anymore.
Quite different from when I played it 20 years ago. Still, it's a very nice course.
Golden Bear Golf Club at Indigo Run
Played On 5/30/2013Lots of sand and water
A mostly flat (it's in the lowcountry after all) course with a lot of bunker protection around the greens and in the fairways, it is a fair ( as in not unfair) test of golf. No gimmicks or trees where they shouldn't be. Greens are fast.
Any place where your first beer costs, in cents, an amount equal to your score must be great.
Hilton Head National Golf Club
Played On 5/29/2013Great course, great staff
The summary says it all. The one downer was the bartender, but it was her last day anyway.
Southbridge Golf Club
Played On 5/03/2013Nice layout, staff hardly there
A nice, fair layout set amongst houses, so green to tee distances are long. First tee seems to take forever to get to. Traps were not soft, probably due to a rain shower that hit us on # 3.
Had to unload our clubs and put them back in our car without help or cleaning. Unusual for this neck of the woods.
All and all, we liked it.
Encinitas Ranch Golf Course
Played On 4/12/2013Good for any level golfer
With the 5 tees, anyone can play this course and enjoy it.
A little spotty on some of the fairways, but not enough to really matter.
Love the greens. They don't break as much as they appear to.
Superstition Springs Golf Club
Played On 11/21/2012A little slow
There is "cart path only" on #1, which slows everything down, especially in the afternoon. We had a 1:12 time, got out at 1:45 and managed 15 holes before we were told to come in due to darkness at 5:25. Next time, we will play earlier.
By the way, the "course rating" section only gives all good or all bad, with no in between.
Eagle Crest Golf Club
Played On 10/13/2012Five plus hours
A really nice course, but when we teed off on #14 and it was already 4 hrs and 10 minutes in, we quit. With 4 + holes to go, we figured 5+ was the minimum. The Marshall , actually a cart kid, said there was a group 3 holes ahead he had asked several times to speed, but they would not. It was apparently some sort of coupon day, so maybe that's the reason. We were offered a comp 9 holes by the pro shop, but settled for a couple of beers since we are from AZ. We would go back on a normal day. The staff was really great.
