Hiddenbrooke Golf Club
Played On 03/18/2023Love this layout but disappointed in the course maintenance
I have played this track several times, and the course is not aging well at all. I appreciate that we have had a lot of rain recently, but most of the fairways look like they have not been mown in a week, bunkers were not raked well, and tee boxes were beaten up. Plus the round took 5+ hours mostly due to a proceeding group playing from the tips, hitting multiple balls, and searching for balls on almost every hole. I would expect to pay half for a course in this condition. Disappointed.
Bennett Valley Golf Course
Played On 02/19/2021Great track!
My first time playing Bennett Valley. It was a bit wet from overnight rain but the layout was fun and challenging, pace was great, and greens were in very good shape. Sun came out about halfway through which made for an awesome back 9.
Highly recommend this course.
Yocha Dehe Golf Club at Cache Creek Casino Resort
Played On 11/24/2019Tournamnet Day at Yocha Dehe
This was my 4th time playing Yocha Dehe and it was in the best shape I have ever seen it. Challenging layout, tricky but fair greens, and enough trouble to keep your attention but not take away from the fun.
I would highly recommend this course to advanced and intermediate golfers.
San Geronimo Golf Club
Played On 10/13/2018Good day
Been awhile since I played here and the course was in very good condition and the weather was perfect. Pace of play could be better and an on-course ranger keeping people moving would be a great addition.
Peacock Gap Golf Club
Played On 09/24/2017Challenging Greens
I love the grass range and practice area. Course is nice with challenging greens. Wish other golfers would fix their ball marks though...
Pace of play could be better managed to improve the experience and on course refreshments could be improved.
Nakoma Golf Resort - Dragon Course
Played On 09/10/2016SLOW play & Poor Course Management
I had high expectations to play the Dragon for the first time. I was very disappointed for many reasons.
1. Not greeted on arrival, asked for help with my bag, or given any info on where to check in. I had to ask everytime I needed to find something.
2. Check in was ok, she was very friendly, but reservation was not updated and was not told had to purchase range balls separate.
3. Range was mediocre at best with no chipping area.
4. Was told by the greater out front that "there is no Starter so you can go off as soon as you are ready". So after hitting a few balls, my buddy and I teed off.
5. We caught up to the group ahead on #2 and that's when we started waiting on every tee box, and all fairway shots.
6. When we made the turn after 9 and got to the 10th @2:40 after starting, there were 8 people waiting to tee off on 10. Apparently 2 foursomes stopped to get drinks and then jumped back in.
I went back into the Pro Shop (no staff outside or at the turn), and asked about options. We were told we could play the front 9 again, as it should be relatively open. It was not, and therefore went back in and got a 50% refund.
In summary the course management was poor to non-existent and heard from another golfer the average round can take between 5-6 hours.
I will not go back and know there are many other courses nearby that offer a premium experience for comparable rates.
I play here all the time and it is a 3 hour course. I would never expect to fly around on a Saturday though and if your not in a foursome than you will have to wait. Golf is intended to have 4 players in each group. The chipping area is just to the left of the driving range near the bocce courts FYI.
San Geronimo Golf Club
Played On 05/28/2016Great Day
The course is in great shape, especially the greens. Pace of play was right on.
Food options were limited, both on course and especially in the club house.
Mare Island Golf Club
Played On 12/05/2015Disappointed.
I have played here several times over the last 2 years, but this was the first time in @ 6 months.
Had to start on 10 as they said they are considering changing the course permanently , despite all signage still original. First cart I choose had a broken bag clip. Cart Pathways are in terrible shape, with many broken fences. Fairways are scrappy. Several greens had mower oil damage and were bumpy. Pin placements on some holes were in impossible sloped locations. No drink cart on a weekend.
Bottom line I was very disappointed in the course conditions, and for the same money could play other nearby courses in much better condition including Napa and Eagle Vines.
McInnis Park Golf Center
Played On 10/04/2014Poor Course Management
I have played often at McGinnis, including often with my 11 year old son. But increasingly the pace of play on the weekend is terrible.
On 10/4 we teed off at 11:23 and it took us 2 hours to play 7 holes of this executive course; gave up on final 2 holes and walked in. Other groups quit as well without finishing. Saw the ranger on hole 1, never again, and never saw him talk to anyone. Complained to the Club Pro and he said it was due to a tournament. I don't think so as I could see the 5 groups ahead of us, and none appeared to know what they were doing. I think they overbooked tee times, miss-managed grouping/starts, and never regulated course play (there was a guy in the group ahead of us in a tank top).
It's too bad as my son likes the course, but I will look for other 9 hole options in the area.
Peacock Gap Golf Club
Played On 09/21/2014Challenging greens and all grass range
I liked the natural grass range for warming up, refreshing for this area. Course is in decent shape, not terribly challenging fairways or terrain, but the greens made up for this. They were well protected, undulating, and/or small. Bring your short game!
Pace could have been a little better, and divot cleanup reminders for all would be nice.
Thank you for taking the time to review the experience. We hope you can come back to see the continued improvements. I'm sure you'll agree that our conditions are second to none. Happy Holidays.
