Once the best course in the area....but now....

Known as downriver...this area isn't known for its golf courses...until lakes of taylor. It was a gem in a blue collar area...just priced out of reach of the common folk, but still frequented as a course worth the extra cash. Over the years the course has declined slowly and steadily into average condition while still pricing high for the area. Now it is a course
I will not ever again golf giving the conditions and price, but mostly due to a ranger who tried multiple times to provoke conflict and without reason or provocation. I am a RN with 7 years psych experience and gifted in being able to de-escalate conflict and verbal attacks...but this ranger resembled a patient on the unit. He is the worker that everybody allows to blow up and act a fool
Because they say "that's just how he is....".
My friend and I were paired up with 2 others and we're having a good time together....3rd hole and out of nowhere there was a back up of 3 groups. We called (given the history of the course and it's Known 6 hr rounds) and asked how and why...and if something could be done...they said it would be handled and we accepted...pace was slow but we accepted and finished the front 9 in 3.5 hours....assured that the back would be wide open we continued our round. On the 10th hole par 5 we tee'd off and by our second shot realized we had to slow given the foursome in front chasing there shots...a consequence of golf and nonissue. Figuring we would be waved ahead we finished the hole....light rain began and we moved to the 11th a par 3. And given we to chased our ball on the 10th we thought for sure the group would be well gone from the par 3 130yd hole, instead they sat in carts and waited for rain to go away. They saw us approach and instead of waving us through they decided to tee off now....
We called ranger and asked if they could handle and not allow us to be stuck again In the back 9....
When the ranger finally arrived he spoke to the group then approached us....his first words....in a threatening and angry voice...."which one of you called the clubhouse"...instinct had me feeling like I should lie and shy away but I knew better and stated it was me...he began to berate and tell me that it s raining and they waited duh....I informed him that is moving ahead was a simple fix...he went on about how stupid I was to call and stared me down in a threatening manner...the twosome we golfed with walked away frustrated and ready to snap...I stated that if this is how he seen the issue then his assistance was no longer needed and we would accept the issue and golf....he called for backup on his intercom and stated that I needed to calm down...I had been calm throughout and stated that I had been recording the exchange and would
Gladly play for any around....he then got in his
Cart and drove away staring me down...our group was blown away by his anger and attacking ways...one of the guys in our group said he walked away because he felt threatened and was ready to fight. What drama!!!!! A day of relaxing golf turned into psycho ranger....but wait....it didn't end there....2 holes later on top of the hill by the green we were hitting to stood the ranger in his cart....we couldn't believe it....he was staring me down as I hit my shots...as I walked to my cart and grabbed my phone to record he drove as fast as he could right toward me and turned sharp...making a squeal sound with tires. He stared me down....I finally took the bait and asked him to leave....that u felt threatened and was going to call the police if he didn't stop....he told me it was a free country and he could do what he wanted and that he was doing his job...I showed my phone and assured him I was recording his actions....he gave a middle finger and drove off....
Wow...a Stephen King novel!!!! On a day I wanted to relax and enjoy golf.....this was my day.
As the sunset on the 18th hole and we finished in the dark we shook hands and wrapped up....never were bothered again after 13th hole....however 6 hours later we couldnt believe the round of drama....
Never again will I go there....
A big issue is angry older people put in these positions and not understanding the game....
The lakes is a waste and will sadly fade into the usual courses that offer little for a high price....
And will most likely find itself taken over by the corporate people who are destroying golf with there lack of improvement and need for profit that supersedes quality.
