Old at Firewheel Golf Park
Played On 10/24/2021Very enjoyable round on a somewhat surprisingly good course.
Fairways are generous, but greens and surrounding obstacles are challenging.
Water comes into play more than I anticipated, mostly with creeks that cross the fairway or in front of greens.
Greens were a little fuzzy and slower than I anticipated. But, they were consistent. A couple of greens were in need of repair.
Woodbridge Golf Club
Played On 02/07/2017Mixed Reactions - Winter Conditions
Woodbridge is not for beginners. Some tight fairways; creeks and ponds come into play on ten holes and cause forced carries; few run-up opportunities. Layout challenges low to mid handicappers. Tee boxes thin and hard; fairways good for this time of year; greens dormant, but excellent for this time of year. Traps crusty, and many under repair. Areas under and near trees are rough (eroded) with many bare areas. Two short par fours (8 & 17) are fun.
Heritage Ranch Golf and Country Club
Played On 09/27/2015Excellent Arthur Hills track.
Challenging course with creative use of trees on several approaches. Course always in great condition. More elevation variation than typical of North Texas courses. Par threes are a strength of course. All-in-all a very enjoyable experience.
Ridgeview Ranch Golf Club
Played On 06/05/2015Great track with variety of hole types
Course is super and in excellent condition, except for bunkers (which were devastated by recent rains).
Made tee time through Golf Now. Didn't appreciate additional charge, presumably for sales tax, added on to Golf Now amount. Thought amount to be paid at course was final when ordered from Golf Now.
Oak Hollow Golf Course
Played On 03/17/2015Muny with excellent pace of play -- a rarity.
Played in early March, so grass was dormant. Course was soggy due to recent heavy rains. Greens excellent for this time of year, and obviously drain well. Generally wide open course, except for #8, which is out-of-context with rest of course and unfair. Good variety of hole length, direction, and elevation. Excellent value for combination of green fee and pace of play.
Twin Creeks Golf Course
Played On 11/23/2014Twin Creeks - Worth Playing
Arnold Palmer-designed course much improved from past neglect. Design elements (water, bunkers, elevated greens) provide good visual and fair (vs unfair) playing character to course. Greens are undulating and fast. Final three holes will challenge golfers at all levels -- 16 = tight par 3 with creek on left and water in front right; 17 = sharp dog-leg right par 4 to elevated green with water right and then left; 18 = par 4 with water all the way down the left side and bunkers to the right. To enjoy playing, pick tees carefully to match player ability.
We call 16,17,18 the "Amen Corner of DFW", lol...
