The Pointe Golf Club
Played On 08/17/2016Great Course for Vacationers
If you need to breakup your beach vacation at the Outer Banks with a round of golf (or a few), put this course on the list. The fairways and greens were in tremendous shape even given the extreme heat experienced in the area over the past couple of weeks. The course is not very long, so playing from the tips is more than manageable. We had some amateurs in our foursome, so we played forward one to the blues, but even for amateurs it was a very manageable course. I highly recommend this course. New to the area since I last vacationed down in the OBX (albeit over 18 years ago).
Bowling Green Golf Club
Played On 06/18/2016This course very challenging from tee to green
A pleasant surprise, Bowling Green exists as a sort of hidden gem, but purely because of location, not popularity. The course was very crowded, due in part to Father's Day weekend, but the pace was ok all things considered. Very few holes have any margin for error off the tee, as you are often faced with some kind of woods, tree line or water on each side of the fairway. That makes for a challenging, but rewarding experience if you can keep your drives and long irons straight. The fairways and greens were in excellent shape, with a pretty unforgiving rough. The greens were fast and undulating and required a precise handle of speed and accuracy to be successful from a scoring perspective. I will be back to challenge Bowling Green again.
Darlington Golf Course
Played On 6/15/2013Great course; great price; screwed up tee time.
Course was great since the recent renovations. The price is what it should be. Unfortunately, because Darlington was new to GolfNow, their systems were not fully up-to-date. I booked a 3:00 pm tee time, but upon arrival they said it was for 3:30, though my confirmation clearly showed 3:00 pm. Fortunately, we were still able to complete 18. Thankfully it's June and the days are long.
