Have played this course many times. Challenging layout for me. Would like the bunkers to be in better shape but overall the course is well maintained in my opinion and the staff is friendly.

Paid $22.00 which was worth it. Since it was the weekend and the line in the pro shop was a bit long we were anticipating a long round as it has happened in the past . We were surprised that we(a twosome) were able to get 18 holes completed in 4 hrs. The greens were quicker than expected the fairways a bit rough (but we paid $22). We were basically out to dust off the clubs and be out in the nice weather and we had a good experience. We were a bit surprised that there was not a beverage cart out on a Saturday though. It’s not a TPC course but it’s a fun course that met our needs at a reasonable price.

This course is very fun and challenging. Being a holiday week you needed to be patient as play did get slow especially on the back nine. Some groups let me play through and I joined a few groups. Maybe a marshal could speed things up a bit. Fortunately everyone seemed to keep emotions in check.

The course was in nice shape though recent heavy rain made the fairways soggy in places. The pace of play was slow all day. At times we (a 2 some) had 2 (foursomes) waiting behind us while we waited for the foursome in front of us to play their 2nd shots. They were not playing slow really, they were waiting as well. All of the staff was very friendly and outgoing -more so than I ever remember at this course. If that is something that they have chosen as a goal I think they are succeeding as it did help make the slow play more tolerable.

For $20. is was a good deal. I've played this course many times. The course has a fun layout and defnitely has gotten nicer over the years. The greens are okay but not great- slow. The pace of play seemed slower than the actual number of hours played. Slow play is not uncommon here so I know this going in and am patient. The conditions were very windy so scoring well was very difficult. I like this course because it is close, reasonable and beats staying in.

I've played this course many times and this last experience was very positive. I played in late afternoon and was finished in 3 1/2 hrs. The course is in great condition and is a great value when compared with other courses that have green fees that were 50 to 100 percent more and were fair at best.
I was a single and groups were good about letting me play through which can sometimes be a problem at other courses.
I look forward to playing there again.

The course layout is interesting and one that we have played many times but we were disappointed in the conditions on this trip. The fairways had many areas that were bare or under repair. The fairways were waterlogged in some places, tore up or bare in other places. The greens were quick but their condition was inconsistent as well.

The course was in decent shape overall. Some tee boxes and bunkers could use some attention. I played as a single and was surprised to find groups of 5 and 6 in front of me especially on a Saturday. Some of the groups were driving right up to the greens and according to the Marshall when he tried to intervene, regarding group size and course behavior, they were verbally abusive or dismissive. When asked why they were permitted to continue to play he stated the clubhouse did not authorize/support their removal. What is the Marshall supposed to do if he is not supported - he definitely was not on a power trip - just trying to protect the course. Usually when groups notice a single (or per Marshall suggestion) they let him play through. As a single, in a context with potentially abusive groups in front of me, I was not going to push the issue of playing through so I followed... and waited.... to be called ahead. I finally was waved ahead on the turn. The front took 2 1/2 hours the back took 1 1/2 hrs. I couldn't believe it was a 4hr round as it felt like 6hrs at times.
I have to say that the experience was not as positive as it could have been due to the lack of respect shown to the Marshall and the course by some of the other groups. It is a bit out of the way for me to play this course and unfortunately it may influence future decisions about whether the drive is worth it.

Southern Oaks is a fun course to play. Most of the greens are in decent shape. The fairways however need attention to get them back to how they were when the course first opened. The staff is friendly and for under $30.00 on a weekend it is reasonable.

I've played this course about 6 times and really like it. It was very windy - 25 mph+ gusts which made some holes very difficult. The course is in nice shape, the greens are quick. My only issue would be the lack of distance markers for a course that does not have GPS on the carts. The staff is friendly and responsive. My cart died and they responded immediately. It's location is a bit out of the way for many but it has a nice variety of holes and is fun to play.

Lake Arlington was a fun course to play. The staff was friendly and most greens and fairways were in decent shape. Some tee boxes needed attention and play was a bit slow especially on the back. Overall though if you are patient it is still a fun experience and I would definitely go back.
