I have played the La Quinta course many, many times, as I have lived on the golf course for many years. I like to play here, for the convenience, but nothing ever gets fixed or improved, so I also play other places. The new Golf Shop / Civic Center was a great addition, but a few minor repairs, and routine maintenance, in obvious areas, could make this a desirable destination for players and events, which with more players, would likely "improve the bottom line". They already have the equipment and personnel. Make it great!

After such slow groups in front of us, without being able to play through, and over four [4] hours, to hole #13, our group of 3 decided to go around the group in front of us, and just not play that hole. The Marshal had already been by twice, but no help. There was a complete empty hole between that foursome and the next. But looking ahead of the next foursome, we found that every hole was very backed up, with as many as 8 carts at some of the tee box areas. We had no choice but to just head in, as it might have taken us 6 or 7 hours to complete our round. We passed the Marshal again on the way in. When I asked about the slow play, he indicated that it was likely due to all the groups of 5 playing. Nobody we spoke to was happy with the situation. Ridiculous ! !

Not that anyone will read this, I thought it would just help to express my experience. The Golf Now Hot Deal price, should explain why the price was so low. There were not many cars in the parking lot, and on a beautiful Friday afternoon. This was my first time to play at Greatwood, and will likely be my last, unless I could be convinced and confirmed that there were a LOT of improvements made. The tee boxes were hard as a rock, with white sand all over the top, and it was almost impossible to get a tee into the ground without breaking it. The fairways seemed to be cut too short, scalped in some areas, very dry and hard, even sometimes causing a shot off dirt, in the fairway. There was sometimes standing water or mud, even though the other areas were very dry and hard. The sand in the bunkers was hard in many areas, then the greens were quite short and dry. Too bad, as I had expected more, from what I had heard about this up scale area, and the homes around the golf course appear to be well taken care of. Now I understand why there were only a few players on a great Friday afternoon.

The weather was almost perfect, but extremely windy in anticipation of stormy weather expected in the next day. I played in the early afternoon, in the hottest part of the day, and never saw a beverage cart. There is not a TURN at the ninth beverage area, or vending machine anywhere on the course, only some push button cooler water.
