Camelback Golf Club - Ambiente Course
Played On 12/15/2020Pardon my Putt
The course is beautiful, green fairways, well maintained but the greens, oh those greens. Talk about slick! It was almost impossible to get the speed right to get close to the pin. When you think you’ve hit it soft enough, the ball would roll by 3-4 feet.
Palmer Course at Wildfire Golf Club at Desert Ridge
Played On 12/08/2020Pale
Seems like every other course has lush, green fairways, this time of year, but not the Palmer course at Wildfire. Not having that extra cushion under your ball seemed to affect some shots. The greens were exceptional, every putt makeable, there were no sudden undulations making your ball turn just before it was to go in the hole.
I was playing the blues, but having issues with getting the ball to the fairway. One of the other golfers showed me the blue/white way of play on the scorecard. Next time I will play that way, as my drives are not as strong as they were in the past.

The hot weather is starting to take a toll on course conditions. There were several areas in desperate need of green grass. The greens were in decent shape, and I wonder if the fitting that prevents the ball from going in the hole, is contributing to the ball rimming out. We had way too many of those in today’s round.
Pace of play was great, 18 holes in 2 hours. Not everyone likes to play in 110 heat.

Played On 04/27/2020Good to Get Out
I have been apprehensive about getting out to play golf. I was not sure about the protocol at the courses due to the Coronavirus. But after today’s round, I will be going out more often. If you show up as a single, you will be given your own cart. The holes on the greens allow the ball to go in, but stay at the top, so you are not touching anything but your ball. So if you are like me, I suggest you go and enjoy!
And as far as the course goes, it is in great shape.
Camelback Golf Club - Ambiente Course
Played On 03/04/2020LONG & STRAIGHT
You’d better be able to hit them long and straight off the tee box. Some of the berm was 150-200 yds wide, before you found the fairway. And if you missed the fairway, it was tough to find your ball in the long grass. The fairways also had plenty of sand traps along the sides, in the middle, and guarding the green.
Other than that, the course is in great shape.

Well maintained, fairway sand traps and water to enhance the challenge.

Played On 02/05/2020Great 18 hole Executive Course
I generally hate playing courses with a lot of par 3’s. But after playing my first round on this course, I will be back. Fairways and greens were in great shape, and if you happen to miss the fairway, not to worry, as there is nothing to interrupt your ball, except trees and a few small ponds.
Play from the blues and those par 3’s are a little harder to reach.
Palmer Course at Wildfire Golf Club at Desert Ridge
Played On 11/20/2019A WET ONE
It rained on Wednesday, but that didn’t stop me from playing at one of the best courses in Phoenix. The fairways are in perfect shape, I don’t think I saw one spot under repair. There were several doglegs and fairways with creek beds intersecting them, forcing us short ball hitters to lay up. You want to avoid the out of bounds, as it is desert, with desert plants. The greens had some undulation, but very puttable. There is just enough sand traps around the greens, and they are filled with fluffy sand, not the rocks and pebbles you have at other courses.
The driving range is included with your green fee, and the carts had GPS. The only down side, other than the weather, was CART PATH ONLY, and we did not finish the last hole, as the fairway had too much water on it. I’m looking forward to playing the Palmer course at Wildfire again, only this time, under a sunny sky.

Played On 11/12/2019One more day
Today was the last day of cart path only. The course is in great condition, although the tee boxes could use a trim. Pace of play was slow, 4 hour round, but attribute that to golfers having to walk to their ball instead of driving to it.
Apache Creek Golf Club
Played On 11/06/2019Keep it on the grass
The Fairways, the tee boxes, and the greens are in excellent condition. All you have to do is land your shots on grass. You can take advantage of hitting on the desert on either side of fairway for extra roll, but trying to hit your ball from that lie can be difficult.

Played On 06/19/2019Not disappointed!
Normally, I complain about playing on courses with aerated greens, but not so here. This course was challenging. When on the tee box, you look at where the fairway is, and you say “oboy”!, because there is a lot of desert plants to get over, in order to reach it. The longest stretch was 169 yds. The fairways are wide, and a few dry creek beds cross them on some holes. There are plenty of sand traps also.
Getting back to the greens; not a real problem. My playing partner was sinking more putts than he normally does an untreated green. And the par 3’s had plenty of distance, I even used my driver on the 218 yd one. This course is well taken care of and I will return.
One other note, free range balls. Not many courses offer that, so you want to get there early, to take advantage.
Starfire Golf Club - The King Course
Played On 06/10/2019Nine and Nine
Do to aeration of greens on the back nine, we had the option of playing the front nine on the King, and the 9 hole executive course. We chose to play the front nine twice.
The course appears to be well taken care of, plenty of bodies of water to entice the game. Sand traps were crusty.
The golf course should have posted the aeration on Golf Now, so I had the option to book another course, instead of calling me the day before I played to let me know! Just saying!
We do appreciate you playing Starfire. We try very hard to keep these situations for occurring. Unfortunately a few of the online bookings did not have the aerification posted and I apologize for having to let you know on such short notice.

Thank you and hope to see you back soon,

First time playing this course. Will definitely play here again. A lot of water and sand on the front nine, less so on back nine. Great scenery! Course is well taken care of. I love courses that challenge me.

First time playing this course. Great layout of holes. Was not expecting the walk to the clubhouse from the parking area.
Pine at McCormick Ranch Golf Club
Played On 07/22/2019One tough course
If you are playing this course for the first time, take a good look at the layout. There are 6 water holes, #15 being the #1 handicap hole. Most of the par 3’s are about 175 yds. The course was in good shape, a few areas were bare, making it hard to get under the ball. Greens were in great shape. A special shoutout to starter, Carl. He got us going earlier than our tee time, (played the back 9 first), and he came out to #18, to tell us that 2 foursomes were getting ready to start on #1. Great guy!
Las Sendas Golf Club
Played On 11/06/2018Beautiful and Challenging.
Course is in great shape, but carts were restricted to path only. It made for a challenging day for me, who is not in the best of shape. If you hit the ball to the extreme side of the fairway, you had to guess on yardage and take several clubs with you. And then return to the cart to retrieve more clubs for the next shot. I don’t know how long this restriction will last, so one might want to contact the course before booking.

Played On 08/29/2018Well maintained!
This course is well taken care of; fairways are green and roughs are mowed. Not a lot of golfers at 10 AM, so pace of play is fast.
Las Sendas Golf Club
Played On 08/03/2018Bumpy greens
You can’t go wrong in playing this course. It has a great layout; rolling hills, dog legs, sand traps to challenge your approach and par 3’s that are reachable. Fairways are green. Right now, the greens are being aerated, but the summer rates make up for that set back. Do as my golfing partner Ray did and land your ball within 6 inches of the hole.
Las Sendas Golf Club
Played On 07/03/2018Challenging
A nice mix of holes, some offering dog legs. Plenty of sand traps to keep you concentrated on your game. Greens were fast, with some slope. Good range of tee boxes for all golfers. Best time to golf there, is after 9 AM, because you won’t have anyone in front of you to slow you down. (100 degree days). My twosome finished in about 3 hours.
Thank you for your review, Cid! We will pass along your positive experience to our team at Apache Creek Golf Club. We look forward to seeing you again soon!
