About

Started playing golf at age 9. Learned the game at Harding Park in SF, which was across the street from my home.Played competitively until I graduate from San Diego State University. Lucky enough to have played on some of the greatest golf courses all over the world. Still enjoy a $5 nassau at my home course Green Hills CC in Millbrae, Ca.

boring

I found myself getting bored playing Prague City Course. The course is about a 30 minute drive from central Prague.I don't think golf is very popular here. I started at 9 am on a friday and the mass majority of players , meaning 3 other groups were asian tourists, The rental clubs i was provided were 20 years old and were not clean. The driving range had practice balls that were about 20 years old too. I paid $60 for golf and $20 for the rental clubs. There only reason I wanted to play here was to put another notch on belt of countries I have played golf in. I am up to 16 now.
Like many courses there were 5 sets of tees.Black, white, gold, blue, red. I chose the gold since my max tee shot goes 230-240. There were still some long shots into par 4's.The green complexes, with their many large swales and undulations on almost every hole, make putting an unnecessary challenge. The greens are gigantic too which makes no sense to me. For a muni, the course is in decent shape. Traps were excellent. The reason I found this course boring is because i felt I was hitting the same type of shot on every holes. Not much diversity here.Would never play here again.

challenging but friendly track

Went to the Secrets Resort, which is excellent too, located next to the golf course. My wife and I really enjoyed the golf course. Most resort courses in Mexico are overly expensive and not memorable. Los Cabos was not cheap but well worth it. The course is routed around a mountain so you have lots of uphill and downhill shots to contend with. From the tee of the par 3 200 yard 6th hole, the drop to the green must be about 100 ft.It is a very exciting tee shot. Use about 2 less clubs because of the steep drop. You have break taking views to the surrounding areas on many holes.. The course is tough but fair. Challenging for all levels of golfers. The bonus at this course is that the green fees include all your food and drink. There are huts every 4 holes that makes fresh food and will provide you your favorite tequila drink. I would love to play this course again.

Typical Nicklaus

My first experience with a Jack Nicklaus design course was the Bear in Traverse City 25 years ago. As a 4 handicap at the time, I found it to be a course Jack Nicklaus would like, but way too tough for normal good golfers, One that was long and required high fades, deep bunkers, and serious undulation in the greens. I found this course to be unmemorable. All the par fours seemed the same. All around 410 from the copper tees.Almost every green had a double break in it. The scenery is beautiful. If you are staying at the resort, it is worth playing once, probably from the forward tees if you want to have some enjoyment.

Great Track

I think I played here 35 years ago, so I did not remember how good a course this was.It is not long, only about 6500 from the back tees, but there are so many fun challenging holes. The par 3's are diverse. I hit a wedge, and 8 iron, and a 4 wood on 2 others. The 6th and 18th holes will test the lowest of handicappers. Ojai Resort is outstanding and all you have to do is walk out of your room and the course is right there.I can't wait to go back and play it again.

should make you feel good about your game

I have played this course many times for almost 50 years. The lodge has been updated in the past few years with wonderful modern accommodations. Edgar's restaurant serves local fresh delicious food.
The golf course is always in good condition. The fairways are generous and the greens receptive. I always seen to score well here. Quail is conveniently located less than 5 miles from downtown Carmel. The resort offers stay and play packages that have been a great deal.
