Pukalani Country Club
Played On 12/29/2015Upcountry round on Maui
Break away from resort golf and play a course that's a good value. The course rewards staying in the fairway as getting into the true rough will annoy golfers who have not worked on short game skills. And don't top the ball on any of the par threes, this is a rainy side of theValley Isle so there's ball eating jungle.
Sierra Lakes Golf Club
Played On 11/07/2015Super Windy Time on a Good Course
As a prelude to a upcoming tournament, our usual foursome pre-played the course - but caught it on a very, very windy day. But we actually lost more strokes to tough pin positions on sneaky quick greens than the weather. The fairways and greens were in superb shape. Driving lanes were open so you could attack several holes from multiple places. We shot over our normal scores but just had a fantastic, fun time. We'll be back for more!
Hidden Valley Golf Club
Played On 08/10/2014Wind make fair course a poor choice
In my area there's good courses and other courses that where once good and have now slipped into being weed farms. Hidden Valley is right on the edge of sliding into the latter. The layout is interesting with twists and elevation changes that gusty late afternoon winds through the canyons took what should have been a fun time and made it difficult. The staff is nice, but the other patrons are no so as bargain hunter hacks hit into us often. Lots of litter draws your attention to the poor conditions (and worn out driving range matts) so your first thought is "the course has no money for upkeep". Too bad...

Yes, it's in Maui but they shove you around like a tourist. I've not been here before I have questions, so don't be rude and offer some service. The course was fine, carts were okay - good thing it was Maui and the company was good.
