Windy and calculated

Course was in early winter shape with rough shots sitting down so you have to go get it on some shots. Greens rolled semi fast with not as much break as you read. Did see the cart girl once per nine.

A course to pump up your ego, not your score.

Cute course, some challenging holes, some easy holes. Greens are not lush, but not many courses can boast that theirs are either. Needs some more watering on some fairways but I did see greens being hand watered. The sandtraps and bunkers need some attention.
Nice food and drink area and all the staff was very helpful.
All in all a pleasant day, good golf with friends and a new course to put in our growing rotation.

Dis remembered

I cut my teeth on this course back in the early to late 70s. BREC should invest time and effort to maintain this course. Very bad fairways and the greens are barely puttable because they are so dry. And I played it the morning after a rainstorm that night. Next time I come home I will find another course to spend $30.00 on.

Pleasant surprise

It was a little damp with scattered showers but the course was a pleasant surprise. Nothing overly challenging but it had some nice dog leg holes and shot placement needed off some tee shots. Some greens had a small weed problem and teesee needed some cutting but greens were receptive and rolled true. Will be back to play the river course.

Get your sticks and go

I have wanted to play Southern Oaks after hearing one of my golfing partners say nothing but good things about this course. I will have to concur, it is a very nice course. I played it on a Wednesday morning 2 days after we had a good rain. The course was relatively dry greens rolled true and fairways had nice sod. Bunkers were still a little damp but this is to be expected after rain. One or two needed a good raking to assist in drying out and there were a few small stones but nothing that would damage your wedges if hit. Lots of improvements still going on in the back nine and this will make me bring my foursome out very soon. It is nice to find a "GEM"hidden not to far away. It is only a 20 minute drive from the Hurst/NRH area. Maybe I should not talk so highly of this course so it will stay a Gem and not be overcrowded. Yeah, this is a terrible course so do not go play there.lmao, (NOT)
See for yourself and you will be pleasantly impressed with Southern Oaks.

still dormant

Nice course for a small town. I will go back once it grows out and probably rate it higher. Gravel cart paths, mixture of small and large greens, most putt true with some slopes of uphill downhill lies. Water is usually visable but there is some hidden. Fairways have grass but they are aerating this week. Give it until mid April and you will enjoy it much more.

The Bridges course not the lakes

The Bridges has 3 different 9 hole courses.Champions is always first the you can play either Masters or Traditions. Masters course runs through a neighborhood, Traditions is more wooded. Overall the sand traps are very soft, the Champions course greens are very fast fairways are full. Traditions greens are somewhat slower but very nice and fairways are full
You must play This course, great shape for February in Texas. After your round go eat in the restaurant fairly price and very good food for a golf course.

Enjoyable round

Very nice course. Greens need to be cut but in winter I am guessing the superintendent wants it green instead of fast. If you have a 3 footer you need to hit it like a 8 footer, ok a little exaggeration but you get the point. Fairways snake, dogleg and slightly veer in either direction. Some even are straight. Bunkers are placed in places long hitters have to decide between driver and 3 wood. Challenging course the first time you play it, then second time you can score much better.

fast but fair

Good course for a muni, has some very challenging holes and the greens are fast and roll true. Cart girl very friendly, and staff was eager to help. We never saw a marshal and even though it was good weather and a Friday we did not really need a marshal once we rolled up on the group in front of us on the 3rd hole in a roll. Bunkers needed some work but for this time of the year the fairways were yellow but full and the rough was about 3 inches. If you do not watch out the front nine can eat alot of your balls with naked doglegs and blind tee shots but the back nine is very forgiving if not longer. ood course so go play using the golfnow discount.

Greens are fast and almost in

Nice course, fairways in good shape, greens almost in but still hold if you play some roll. Windy so we had to think your way around the course. I would suggest everyone use golf now hto deals and play this course. You will make it one of your regular rotation.

Like the changes

I waited to get the course a little more mature before playing the new layout. Given that some holes you can not change because of the housing but they cleaned up the course and moved some holes and some are the same. Greens are almost in give it another 3 weeks and this will be one of the better courses in the metroplex. Greens rool fast and have some nice undulations.

Semi challenging

First time I had okayed this course and some hidden water and sand that would change my club selection if I would had known. Approach shots and placement of tee shots will make the difference in your scorecard. This is not a course where you just bonb it off the tee box because of dog legs and trees lining the course. Super friendly staff and marshalls are constantly checking up on you and their grill is top notch. With the golf now discount I will be back.

Hill Country feeling

Have you ever played in the Texas hill country? Ditto will remind you of Drives down into valley and mid irons into the greens from on top of hills of up from the valley to the elevated green. The fairways are nice but get off the fairway you will have no shot at most of the greens because of tight fairways lined with trees. No cart girl present but located in the middle of Arlington, a course well worth the hot deal price of $9.99 and more. Greens roll true AND you really have to look close to get the correct break, Go play this course for an enjoyable course that after you play each hole you always think I could have done better if,,,,

very fast greens tough rough and nice fairways

First time playing this course makes it difficult to know what holes to use driver or 3 wood, thicker rough makes hitting fairways prime #1 intent. very fast greens and not one is level so you have to really read your putts. On this Wednesday the front nine bunkers were wet but usually are a nice sand. they do need a cart girl during the week or get more H2O on this course for players to drink. Over all a nice challenging track be prepared to shoot some double bogeys until you learn where to try to go for the greens or lay up and take your par and walk away for another day.

fairway golf

If you can drive your tee shot straight you should score well. Greens are fairly quick, I left some divots on the greens with mid iron approach shots. Tree lined fairways so driving is important. Some longer par 3's, mixed with senic par 4's with doglegs along creeks and shots over water are challenging.
Nice cart girls and beverage girls in the snack bar.
The worse thing I can say is their sand traps have DIRT, no sand, and rocks. So if you can play on Tuesdays, Golf Now is a great deal.

good value good challenge

course starts out easy then gets more challenging. Some of the par4's you can leave the driver in the bag if you have a good 3 wood. The greens are fast for winter and undulations all over the place. Go play this course.
