ChampionsGate Golf Club - National
Played On 03/04/2017Great Track, Great Staff.
We came down from MA to play the National & International.
The National was a great course, (played the black tees, tips) nice landing areas , layout, and great greens.
The range was very solid (8.5/10) , practice area was superb (9/10) and staff was extremely friendly. My one tip is that the course is fairly long from the back tees, and the wind seems to blow in your face on every hole. Each guy in our group was scratch - 8 handicap and if you don't hit the ball 250 then you may want to play a tee up.
The greens were extremely small, but the putting surfaces/ green side fall offs were fantastic. You can't expect much more for the price. Shot a 74 with a double on the last hole (par 5) which was self induced, not the courses fault for a snipe hook. We will definitely be back, any golfer who appreciated a great layout and challenging greens will certainly like this course. I can't comment on the condition of the course from the comments a few weeks back; but do yourself a favor and play this course, if your in the area over the next few weeks, it won't disappoint.
We will be back for sure. Thanks ChampionsGate!!
ChampionsGate Golf Club - International
Played On 03/02/2017Challenging......
We came down from MA to play the International & National.
Where to begin......let's just say if you don't hit the ball consistantley over 270, play the blue tees, do yourself a favor.
We played the black tees, there are not many courses where I feel are long, and this one is certainly one of those. The greens are amazing, firm hard and fast, but they where some of the most fun greens I have ever played.
Some may struggle if you don't hit the ball high with your irons, or if your short game is shakey. That's not the courses fault, do your HW on the course before booking a tee time.
The fairways and overall condition is very solid, and delivers a true test for the best of golfers. I personally shot a 80, and at this point in the season (coming from the snow of the NorthEast, Probably left 4-5 shots out there) it was a solid Rd. If your taking a guys trip to Orlando and are all solid players, try this track from the back tees, you will get your money's worth and may need the cart girl to help the struggle. Out of all the courses I have played over the years, this one ranks in the top 10 in terms of difficulty due to shear length and the green complexes.
Both courses are certainly worth the money, the International will cause you a few restless nights.
We will be back.
