Aguila Golf Course
Played On 11/02/2019Farmington Hills Golf Club
Played On 07/07/2018Nice municipal course
Would have never known this course existed if I had not driven by one day. Should really get with the program and sign up with GolfNow!! Most of the golfers I know use GolfNow & if you aren’t on it you’re missing a lot of customers! This is a fairly well maintained municipal course. Some quirky holes & a lot of soft wet greens made round challenging because putting speed on greens was inconsistent. Pace of play was was not good, no rangers on the course to regulate hackers with no golf etiquette. Cart girl just seems to drive around aimlessly, she was too busy with her phone & earbuds to stop twice even after trying to wave her down. Several water coolers out of water which is not good on a hot summer day.
Moose Ridge Golf Course
Played On 07/04/2018Awesome course
Awesome course, friendly staff. Pace of play was good but not many people out. Could see pace of play an issue on a busy day because most holes are cart path only, not a good thing for hot days or older folks & the carts are programmed to shut off if you remotely get close to an “ off limits area”. Also water coolers are spaced too far between holes and cart girl left when we hit back 9 on a 90 degree plus day. Only one bathroom on the whole course halfway through back nine. Loved that the fairways and greens are rock hard and balls roll fast on both. Fairways are very narrow requiring precise shots, if you spray balls come prepared with a couple dozen balls or more.
I will add to my list of courses to replay, but not until cooler weather due to cart path only & limited water coolers on the course.
Hidden River Golf & Casting Club
Played On 06/23/2018Excellent course
Great up north course. Well laid out and kept in great condition. Even with rain the day we played, greens were fast. Highly recommend!
Black Lake Golf Club
Played On 06/22/2018Very beautiful and tough course
Very nice up north course. Requires more accuracy than most and greens are fast & multi tiered. Not to keen on rangers constantly driving around logging times on a clip board, if pace of play was slow could maybe understand, but I come to the up north courses to get away, relax, & have fun- not to have rangers riding up on me logging playing time.

What an awesome course, loved that each hole was a duplicate of another course. Friendly and helpful staff. Course in excellent shape and greens were very fast.
The Golf Club at Mt. Brighton
Played On 06/17/2018Don't be fooled by picture on Golf Now
The picture they have posted on Golf Now is no where representative of the actual course conditions. The picture lead me to believe that the course warranted the $50 asking price. The bunkers on the entire course had hard brown sand in them with weeds growing in the bunkers. The grass was slightly stressed but manicured. I get that part of the novelty of the course is playing through the ski slopes on the front 9, but in the conditions of this course, it's only worth $35 tops with all of the other nicer courses in the area charging that or slightly more or less. I definitely won't be getting burned here again.
Beacon Hill Golf Club
Played On 10/01/2017Nice course
Decent course if you get a hot deal. Course conditions were good. Course layout is quirky with several blind shots on holes & homes close to playing area. We only encountered beverage cart once over 18 holes.
Rouge Park Golf Course
Played On 09/24/2017Good value but could be better
Course in good shape for a municipal course. Bunkers lacking sand. Very courteous staff. No rangers to help keep pace of play. Course has lots of blind shots and left turning holes. No beverage carts and water coolers are spread far between holes. Would recommend play on a week day if you get a hot deal.
Lakes of Taylor Golf Club
Played On 09/17/2017Great course
Always enjoy playing here. Course is usually in good shape. Pace of play was absolutely horrible today as we were stuck behind a three some walking for 12 holes. They would not let us play through and no ranger out on a weekend. Some holes we waited 15 minutes or longer to tee off. I don't understand why courses allow walkers on the weekends when it's busiest. Starter was very friendly, but the other staff seemed cold.
Woods/Meadows at Mystic Creek Golf Club
Played On 09/18/2016Almost feels like up north
Challenging course, the "Lakes" course has some narrow fairways surrounded by water. Several elevated tee boxes and greens give you that up north feeling. Par 3's play longer than expected. Would have rated 5 stars, but no cart girl, no water on course- all the water fountains at bathrooms were inop. Also they charge you $2 "admission" to get in and park your car to play golf.........
Gateway Golf Club
Played On 09/05/2016A good challenge
Some challenging holes set amongst houses. Fairway grass was long and was in need of being cut. Greens were extremely soft, approach shots stick well. A decent course for $35 round but not worth more.
Sandy Creek Golf Course
Played On 08/21/2016Decent Course
Layout of course was very good, scenic holes. However some tee boxes we almost bare, sort of ironic since there is a sod farm next door. No beer cart and no water stations on course. Staff in pro shop and outside not very friendly/welcoming. Had the tee boxes been in better shape and a beer cart would have been 5 stars.
West at Warren Valley Golf Course
Played On 06/12/2016First and Last Time Playing here
Course was very patchy. No water available out on the course in the heat of summer. No rangers to keep pace of play in check. The type of players that play here do not know golf etiquette, unrepaired divots all over, not allowing faster groups to play through. We ended up leaving after only 13 holes because we had already been on the course for 5 hours. Do not recommend this course!
East/South at Links of Novi, The
Played On 05/13/2016Great course
I play this course a few times a year and haven't been let down. Course is always in great shape and staff is very friendly. Pace of play was a bit slow due to a twosome of women ahead of us and the fact that the course was cart path only always brings pace of play to a crawl. I would definitely recommend course, got a great deal too on golf now
Lake Erie Metropark Golf Course
Played On 07/26/2015good value for the money
2nd course of the Metro Parks I have played. Not as nice or scenic as Willow Metro Park. Keep shots in fairway, rough is very tall and thick. Well maintained for a public course, staff very friendly
Idyl Wyld Municipal Golf Course
Played On 07/11/2015Sub-par for the course
Played on a Saturday; busy golf course should NOT allow walkers on a busy day. Pace of play was horrible due to all of the walking hackers.
The layout of the course is very small and holes are tightly packed, every hole someone could be heard shouting FORE. Take a hard hat and flak jacket if you play on a busy day.
Course is kept in decent condition for a municipal course.
Beware though- NO watercoolers at all on course, even for a hot day and cart girl only has beer and water for sale. No snack bar for hot dog or burger at the turn, just a cooler in the pro shop with drinks and candy.
For the $30 I paid on Golf Now, there are other courses in the area that provide a better value than what I paid. Will only play again as a last resort when no other courses are available....
Hi Tony,
Thank you for taking the time to write a review and we appreciate you visiting Idyl Wyld. We are pleased to hear that you found the course in good condition.
Similar to the other 2 Livonia courses, the food and beverage is not run by the course, but by the restaurants at each facility. Although it is not directly attached to the pro-shop, a full menu can be found in the same parking lot in One Under. Our apologies if you were not directed there.
We are sorry to hear that you were stuck behind some slower players, just as you will sometimes find slow golfers in carts, you will also find some walking. If you ever wish to return please give the pro-shop a call and we can better direct to a time where you will be able to zip around as a two-some quicker than mid-day on a weekend.
Thanks again!
North Course at Pheasant Run Golf Club
Played On 07/08/2015Great value
One of the best kept courses I've played this season. The course is challenging for all skill levels. Water comes into play on many holes and greens are well protected. Some of the holes on the 2nd nine are wide open Scotland links style with rolling terrain. Although built around a housing development the veiws on the holes are very nice due to good groundskeeping. Only downside was a previous group of golfers had obviously twisted spikes on greens tearing them up, but not courses fault. Will definitely add this course to my favorites to play again, especially if I get another $33 deal.
Willow Metropark Golf Course
Played On 06/13/2015Great scenery
Took advantage of a $25 offer to try one of the areas metro park courses. Very beautiful & serene golf course for a municipal course. The biggest and only issue was that the drainage is horrible! Would not recommend playing this course until after several days of a rainfall. Several fairways had very bad ponds in low spots and with nearly every fairway soaked no roll on any shots. Most bunkers were temporary water hazards. Greens were very soft and slow, but were easy to adjust to.
Downing Farms Golf Course
Played On 06/06/2015Decent value if you're looking for a practice course
Second time I've played here this season. The $25 rate with cart is an alternative to a couple of large buckets of range balls at a driving range. However, either due to poor tee time planning or just trying to cram as many $25 duffers the pace of play is absolutely horrible. Both times we have been out it took just under 6 hours to play. Many of the people playing here could use a lesson in golf etiquette and the ranger was apologetic about slow play, but c'mon do something about it instead of just lip service.
The overall condition of the course for this time of year is not that bad, however there is one hole on the front nine where the blue tee box is actually a rotted wood deck with an old AstroTurf mat on it, they should invest some capital into a real tee box.
Hello and thank you for your 5-star rating! We're delighted you enjoyed your round. Please book another round with us soon, and thanks for choosing Aguila Golf Course!
